Well mine just showed up today from Questar.

Quick first impressions:

-The plastic furniture seems a bit cheap compared to my DPMS or Bushmaster. It isn't bad, it's just... well not the same.

-It's going to need a good cleaning and oiling. The bolt feels gritty going back and forth.

-The trigger is suprisingly good. Nicer than my Bushy.

-Mags drop fee easily. The release takes a bit more force to use than one with a 223 mag but not by much. I do not like that it's smooth. Some serrations or 'bumps' would make it better. I'll have skateboard tape on it by bedtime.

-The mag angle looks strange but has to be for the right feed angle. I'm getting used to the look already.

Questar was great to deal with and I'll happily use them again. Now they just need to get those G18 mags in for me.

I'm off to do some house clearing with it if my wife will let me.

I'll be very interested to see if the system is reliable. If it is as reliable as the Colt 9mm system, then I will be purchasing one. But, I think I will wait until the reviews are in. Give it a good beasting at the range, and share your impressions, please. ;)

The quality looks pretty good

The mag release is the bar running across the mag well on the right side. To mimick the Glock release you push it in, the end of the bar moves out and disconects from the mag.

The bar on the left side is the bolt hold open. This ugly piece is here once again so that the gun works with the Glock mag. The front of the bar tilts up on an empty mag to stop the bolt from comong forward. Hitting the standard bolt release lets the bolt go forward.

I'll be out to the range Thursday or Friday with a couple hundred rounds.

Here's two more:

So then you push in the same area as the old button.......and the bar pivots and the mag drops?

I'm not sure about that spring in the upper though. It has an arm that rides against a groove in the bolt. It almost seems like it's to slow down the forward motion of the bolt?

I'm still trying to get over how the mag looks in there. My mind keeps saying something is wrong with that picture! Can't wait for the field review.:D

The spring in the upper is the ejector, at least it is in my buddys old SGW that uses sten mags.

Bingo on the ejector, get a spare. I hope this works out for you mate, the older conversions were tragic and very failure prone...give 'er hell and report back and don't candy coat the report, remember, if it breaks you don't want it anyway...

two words.........chop the barrel!!!!!!!!

That's 3 words actually ... :D

Are you getting one too, and if so, what length will you reduce your barrel to?

Will there be any change to the functioning of the gun when the barrel is shortened?
