I was told and am enquiring as to whether an "action shooting sport" like IPSC would qualify as an activity that would allow the purchase or transfer of a handgun. It has apparantly been shot in the Olympic Games I have been told .
Men’s Olympic rapid fire ( 5 shots in 8sec, 6sec and 4sec) is likely a great and realistic cross over event for IPSC shooters to try given their honed reaction skills, ability to shoot well quickly and openness to training.
Personally, I’d love to see several IPSC shooters seriously try ISSF Rapid Fire and do well in competition. Yes they would need to purchase a new pistol (cheaper than an open gun). Plus meaningful exercising the Olympic/Para target shooter exemption is a good thing as a first step.
This isn’t ideal but it’s a first step.
