OMG First Post Evar!! (Airguns)

The Beeman rifles in Walmart + Can tire are not German [Wiehrauch]or US made but Chinese/Spanish clones.A HW80 AKA Beeman R-1 will crack 750-800fps in.22 caliber.Blows through 1/2" pine at 30 yards complete penetration on gophers ,crows and grouse. Will take out a full grown porcupine head shot...............................Harold PS :the Phantom airguns have had a lot of trouble with faulty seals and sloppy QC from what I've read on other forums

go to walmart or cnt and pick up a phantom .22 or 2289, both cheap guns that will do the job in any temperature

A QB78 for sure.

Note that way too many airguns use way too many plastic parts. The QB is almost entirely metal, bolt action, and Co2 powered (I liked it because there was no spring to wear out). In .22 caliber, it is hard hitting and a non-PAL gun.

Incidentally I have one for sale in the other stuff forum... :)

Get a .22 cal if you are going to use it for hunting. Crosman makes the perfect backyard hunting gun in the 2289G, multi-pump pneumatic. No CO2 to buy, no spring action to eat your scope and no recoil. They are quiet enough to take the mighty Eastern Grey and its locally abundant melanistic subgroup black cousin. Another plus on the side of the 2289G is it customizability. Google around and you will be amazed at what is possible. Here's my backyard, squirrel death, laser beam. It has been modded to include a wide trigger with pull adjusted to a few ounces, longer barrel, steel breech, extended bolt, rear cocking, valve pulse and volume tweaked to match barrel length, etc...and all (minus scope and bipod) for about $100 plus taxes.

"No spring action to eat your scope" is that a problem with spring airguns? I just put a banner 4X on a gun, will it destroy it?

it should say on the box or manual that the scope came in, springers have two way recoil, it recoils back and forth which is something most scopes can't handle...

sounds like he got the phantom, btw dont bother scoping the phantom, it has huge hinge lock up problems. I had one for a while but the seal died. Another good -500 fps .177 is the hatsan 35 (also have it) if youre looking for break-barrel.

Hello Shoot!!!,

As "Beer_Drinker" already mentioned, scopes that are not rated for airgun use won't last long. The dual recoil from a springer will loosen the reticle or the adjustment mechanics before too long.

Almost anything German is quality.I rebuilt a .177 Hungarian pelletgun from the early 60's I had as a kid and with a new spring and a lube job it still drops crows dead.Good for another 40 years or so.............no plastic..................Harold****Hatsan is a Turkish Co with major QC issues right down there with the Chinese

Thank you gentlemen, I have a Crosman 795 used to control woodpeckers on my trees, 35' max range, my eyesight is not as good as 20 years ago so I thought this would be excellent.. I've been wrong before,, any suggestions?? No sense destroying a cheap but decent scope.

+1 for Diana RWS rifles.
I have a Model 34 in .22 and I like it a lot. Excellent finish, built strong, tight action, smooth controls, adjustable trigger, powerful and deadly accurate.
I highly recommend SSSO h ttp://www.canpages.ca/page/BC/langley/specialty-shooting-sports/2182340.html. For some reasons, their web site is down but give them a call. They are really nice people and the prices are very reasonable. They have a wide selection of air guns and have excellent customer service.

Any good online shops in Canada sell these? Looks awesome.

Reliable gun, who is a sponsor, has a selection of Diana's at very good prices, and their shipping is very prompt. Airguns come onto their used site, and are usually removed the next day because they are sold.

Non sponsors: D L airgun . com Very nice to deal with. Another one is Sask. is air guns only . com.

I've got a TM SPAS-12 airsoft gun I use to plink at the pigeons that are constantly landing on my roof. Fires 3 bbs each shot, tons of fun!

*Sorry, just read the "no airsoft" sticky, feel free to delete!

If you're looking at a non-pal airgun get a break barrel in .22 and if money isn't an issue get a (Weirauch) HW50S.

A list of Canadian Dealers can be found here:

ttp://my.tbaytel.net/~coopers@tbaytel.net/Dealers/

It's a great gun small, light and accurate and truly a quality firearm.

The Diana 24's are also a really good gun and much cheaper. I'd get the carbine version if you can find one.

I prefer break barrels to pumpers as, in my opinion, they are more fun to shoot.

I actually have the "backpacker" model of that (breaks down, has a short barrel, stock comes off). This is a VERY accurate little pellet gun.

I just bought my son a Diana Model 24 from Wholesale Sports in Kamloops $229.95. I might have to get one for myself now, excellent quality and accurate. I have an old Slavia Model 624 my neighbor gave me 30 years ago for cutting his grass, it is a nice lightweight little gun but not near as powerfull. I sure wish I had a new Diana when I was kid!
