OMG, i cant believe its here. type 81 LMG

From what I understand from a source I trust the quality of these is badly lacking, " Many friends who fired a real deal in China before says the exported version’s quality is far inferior. " I was going to buy one but am now having severe doubts that I would be happy with a cool looking but second rate gun... Is there really anything a type 81 LMG do that an SKS can not ?

I have mine in hand now , quality in my opinion is quite good. Better than the original fixed stock T81 I had. I’m quite happy with it for what it cost. The blueing is very nicely done , the machining of the bolt and carrier is nicely done , the internal parts all look to be well made and the whole thing is put together with a above average level of fit and finish in my opinion.
As far as what can it do that an sks can’t , well what can anything do that an sks can’t ?? Why buy a nice model 70 Winchester or Sako hunting rifle when a sks can do the same thing ... a dead deer is a dead deer right ?
The old “what can it do that an sks cant” is a pointless comparison. If you don’t like it don’t buy it.

Well that's a relief. I like it and will buy one for the cool factor. ;)

Not true, made in same factory. In fact it is higher quality because we have to get factory on board with expectations for aesthetics on our market. Receiver scratches, marks, missing finish is unacceptable whereas for the military orders it's not a concern

I'm very pleased to hear this, you have put my mind at rest.

Theres things my VZ 58 could do that an SKS never will. I think its good to compare platforms. Especially for undecided new shooters reading these types of threads that are looking for opinions.

Well let’s see :
What can an LMG do that an SKS can’t :...
LMG is heavier so it’ll make you stronger from carrying it ...sks can’t do that.
LMG has a bipod so it’ll save you $ on buying a shooting bag ...sks can’t do that.

And lastly LMG is cooler so it’ll get you laid ... sks definitely can’t do that lolololol

The VZ 58 is not an option for new shooters right now.

see below.

I have found the perfect mount.

I bet the FOV is sooo poor with a optic that so far away from your eyes. You may be new, it might work for you, but its NOT the perfect reddot mount.

If you also shoot corrosive ammo, you will get blow back into the lens.

The field of view is the same as the issue sights.

I have tried the mount, there is no "blow back into the lens "

Are the iron sights that bad? My T81 sights are pretty good and my eyes aren’t as good as they used to be but really this to me is a gong ringing rifle so irons should be good enough for that.

Whatever floats your boat. Looks stupid IMHO, greater chance of hitting your sight off some obstacle.

Then again, I used SKS as lawn darts.

Show me a non gunsmith mount that works better.

The magwedge style rails.

Im glad u like ur amazon setup, but dont expect others to. I also wouldnt say its perfect. For SKS rifles id honestly place it in a class slightly below receiver cover mounts lol
