OMG! I want a TAVOR

You can't take 2 inches off cutting of a barrel is a criminal offence and you would turn a sweet rifle into a prohib device if u ever got caught ... And for what 2 inches
No, no it isn't. I can cut barrels all day long if I want to as long as they remain long enough.

Cutting a barrel too short is a criminal offense.

I appreciate the Tavor enthusiasm in here....as a Tavor owner, I was just wondering - what do you plan on hunting with a Tavor? Maybe I missed some element of humor....but you obviously can't hunt deer with it...so, rabbits, coyotes?

Of course....I am just keeping mine on standy by for the imminent zombie invasion.

I'd be so pissed if H1N1 was the end of human civilization, I can't shoot a virus ... that's a serious lack of crescendo!

aside from being a small round size, is there a legal side to not hunting with .223?
cant you make your shot count?

You cannot legally hunt deer with .223 in almost all provinces. I thought you could in Sask, but apparently I'm wrong.

Coyotes, rabbits, rats, cats, and other small animals. I'm hoping to take out a wild boar down by the river this fall.

I think I just died laughing.

Roger that brother!

Maybe you two would, as a magnanimous gesture to us simple folk, momentarily vacate your lofty perches and debase yourselves by aiding the common man. When you advocate someone being 'more accurate, and better with the shot count'....I am sure that you wouldn't be admonishing anyone here to hunt large game with a .223. Such silliness would be tantamount to gross cruelty, and surely only the most novice or bloodthirsty among us would entertain such acts.

I am sure that the error is mine alone. Please consider us in the future, and not let ourselves be misguided and led astray by our own ignorance.

Roger that!

oh gee, did i do something unthinkable again and pose a question that steps ever so slightly on someone toes? good grief. My question was answered. Thank you ArmedSask. We don't all know 100% of everything. Please feel free to use more big words in an effort to try make others feel asinine. Maybe you can throw some in that actually need looking up?

Talk about vacating perches.

LMAO! :agree:

Btw, what's the overall length of the Tavor?

Ahh, the down side of community forums...

Cuddle up with the nice tight grouping you had on that last target and take the rest of the night off. Own up to the braggadocio...

Hunting deer with a 223.....even if you could, why would you?

Alrighty Jayson...in the spirit of the forums, and the good of anyone trying to sideline a messy mud fight - I propose a truce. Peacepipe?

First off, I have never hunted, and may never. That being said, my knowledge in the subject is quite limited. As i thought was obvious from my question. However the deer i have been around were not all that large (Queen Charlotte Island) and have no real predators. I swear if you wanted, you could hunt them with an apple and a hammer. But I digress.

Its irrelevant, really. Peace pipe engaged!

....oh the peacepipe....if you listen closely....there's a strange mix of kumbaya and yellow submarine in the distance....

The Tavor would make a helluva seal rifle! Plastic and anodized aluminum, plus chrome bore would stand up to salt water pretty good. Short and handy, so fast handling, especially when hunting from an open boat. Semi-auto, and the ability to use LAR-15 mags, next best thing to a reclassified AR-15 from the pre C-17 era!:)

The .223 is also legal to use for Caribou in Labrador, not to mention varmints like coyotes, so there are lots of uses that can be found for a semi-auto SPORTING rifle like the Tavor.

You can take dear with .223 in BC can't you? The Tavor would be a pretty sweet truck gun.

there is this marvelous (and free) book called "BC Hunting Regulations", even available online.... Most people on this site have never read them....

inside this amazing stack of paper it says that with the exception of Bison, ANY CENTERFIRE RIFLE is legal to hunt big game in BC.

many folks on CGN have taken deer with .223 cal center fires. do a search....

Berretta Storm in 9mm......it must be the wave of the future for game hunting!

Good luck with that...

Actually.... I've had to dispatch deer and even a small moose with a 9mm (guy switched cars with me and the shotgun was in mine, while he didn't have one in his). The trick for a moose... 3 shots back of the head in the same spot. First 2 break the skull the 3rd expands.

One shot from a 9mm with hollow points only knocks them out. But that makes the next two shots real easy.

So if you have the brass, can sneak up to 10 feet and behind them it should be a go :p

Since there aren't any pics yet...

Wtf ???

Well Gunkle, do you actually have anything usefully to add to this thread? Perhaps you should check what you are smoking in your peace pipe.

I am slowly becoming a convert to the Tavor Lovers Society. I think a person should use whatever gun and caliber on deer or any other game for that matter that he (or she) can successfully dispatch the animal, with minimal suffering and minimal meat loss. If You can get the job done with a
.223 then more power to you. Why use a .223? Cause you can!! Nuff said.
