OMG stock finish removal!

I'd heard that the thick glossy Browning and Remington finishes are notoriously hard to strip.

Anybody have any advice for removing these kinds of finishes?

I had a heavy gloss on my Mossberg 500 field classic. I used citri strip over a couple days wrapped in saran wrap. Worked like a charm.

Yes, I've learned that wrapping (I'll be using tinfoil) is the key.

Regarding a walnut rifle stock fitted with ROSEWOOD tips on fore-stock and palm swell... do you treat the ROSEWOOD same as the rest of the stock with regard to sanding and finishing ?

If there is a white spacer in there, the stripper may eat it.

The rosewood tips on my particular rifle don't have the white strips.
I guess I'll just strip varnish from end to end including the rosewood tips

CIRCA 1850 Furniture Stripper works very well on all finishes including the plastic based ones, although it is slower on these. Don't try the food wrap trick with this though, it eats plastic.
