OMGOMGOMGOMG cz452lux tomorrow

Nice rig, Congrats? From Wholesale? Id so, Dwight in there is a serious Brno/CZ fan from way back and is one of the ones that turned me on to Brno's nearly 2 decades ago when he sold me my first Model #1. Love these little guns!

By the way, noticed you are from Lethbridge, I went the last year and half of high school in Magrath. Great gopher shooting out there and I miss it dearly!

Again congrats and enjoy!

Dunno who Dwight is, the fellow who sold me the gun was Trent, a guy I went to highschool with. I was turned on to BRNO/CZ by my Grandpa who owned a BRNO model 1 before the registry rolled around.

I haven't been gopher shooting ever. I need someone to take me out a few times so I know how to do things! :p

Looks good! See how you are with the irons before you get a scope. I like my scope (mostly because I can't hit sh!t all with the factory open irons on my Cooey... the peep sights on the Marlin 81DL I have sitting here I'm rather accurate with however) because you can see those 100 yard gopher shots in the tall grass easier.

I've found that the 36gr Champions and 38gr AE Copper plated HPs run the best and most accurately through the ol' Cooey, and I can group 10 shot strings inside a quarter at 50 yards ALL DAY. For me, that's plenty accurate. If I want more accurate, I'll go to a bolt action (Icehunter, I still want that Mossberg! I don't care how fugly it is!:D)

However, you mileage may vary depending on ammo type.

I'm gonna talk to the missus about heading down to southern AB for a long weekend before the summer is out. I haven't hit the ranch land out around Claresholm to shoot gophers in nearly 16 years. I want my chance to outshoot Grampa, so I can win his Enfield :D You can come along too :D

You're not alone. I never could focus on ramp sights that well and as I age it's becoming even more difficult. Peep sights are still ok to focus on though, and more accurate anyway, probably partly due to the longer sight radius.

Congrats! Couldn't have made a better choice........you will certainly enjoy this firearm. If you are used to irons and have healthy vision it should be good for ranges out to 100+ yds (read small game.....paper results will vary :)

About 4 years ago - on a trip to my native country (SE Asia), using open sights, I took a couple of Green Pigeons (same size of birds that we see here in Canada) perched on electric cables at an aprox distance of 160 yds.... major advantage was that there was negligible wind that morning and no obstruction.

This is just to convey that the irons on those rimfires (read bolt actions) are really excellent.

I owned these models prior to migration and my first rimfire purchases (post migration)......:D :D

Dunno who Dwight is,

Dwight is one of the brothers Hoyt who own the Lethbridge Wholesale Sports....great guy and knows a bit about Brno's. Used to be "Hoyt's Sporting Goods" down town for decades under their dad. They bought him out, or mainly his older brother did, moved the store, then joined the WS franchise and relocated once again on the south-side.

Very cool!

That my fine feathered friend is a shame. I would take you in a heartbeat, but I currently reside in Vancouver...Washington not Canada...the State not DC. ;) I too am dying to go and may try to slip up to my parents before the summer is out.

Take care and good luck.

PS You might one to peruse the CZ Forum on RimfireCentral for a Brooks trigger kit (a whole $14 and some change and something you can do yourself in slightly over a 1/2 hour) and/or maybe a Ghost ring insert for iron site usage from Brookie.

Ok, I just got back from camping. I put 750 rounds through it without a hiccup mainly Remington Thunderbolts but I did use CCI Blazers, American Eagle and some Winchester T22s. The gun is certainly more accurate than I am and I really liked the irons. To get a full fledged range report I will have to wait until monday or later.

I'll have some pictures when they are sent to me.

Ok, semi-formal range report.

When out today and went through about 120 rounds of American Eagle 38 grain hollow points. I was shooting out to 100 metres primarily and I was hitting about ~7/10 on the steel targets which were about 4 inches in diameter and shaped like chickens. I also managed to hit the really tiny spinner (1-2 inches) which made me smile.

Conclusion, I like this gun and the irons are good enough for me. :D

I'm still waiting on some pictures from my camping trip.

OK, I finally got some pictures of the camping trip. I will get a few more of some targets later this weekend if I get my camera back in time.

Here I am trying my best to impersonate KevinB. Yes, I'm still working on the whole beard thing. :p
