I have an Ithaca mod 37 12ga featherweight, which DOM was before the barrels were made to be "owner interchangeabe". If one was to do a barrel swap of another, of the older version is it an easy job for a gunsmith.Or is it a time consuming project. Any ball park cost opinions? Thank's Dave.

For dismounting on the owner 'do-able' models all you have to do is:
1. Ensure it's empty & rack the slide fully back.
2. Turn the magazine cap fully down to ensure clearance.
3. Once you have clearance, turn the barrel 1/4 turn or so the only way it can to free the interuppted threads.
4. Done right the barrel should pop free of shotgun receiver.

Remember, to ease the pressure off the now cocked mechanism.

Thank you Brutis. I believe your 855,000 is correct. However what I was wondering, is where barrels above the cut off serial number can readily be changed , earlier serial numbered barrels are of a different breed. They if I am right need more attention to the proper threading. Dave
