I purchased a pistol on-line from one of the CGN sponsored venders. This is the first time that I have bought a restricted firearm on-line (All of my previous purchases were in store) and I am curious as to how long the transfer process takes. I am in Ontario, I was emailed the reference number from the vender January 22nd. Today would be two weeks, so am I being impatient? Is there a respectful time line after which I could/should contact CFO and inquire?

Thanks for any advice

Have you contacted the vendor as of yet? No harm in checking, and it's been a reasonable time.

Also depends on how bad Ontario transfer wait times are at the moment.
Could be a couple of more weeks I guess.
Vendor did their end of things and provided the ref# in short order?
If so, never hurts to call your CFO and check on the status.
Might even approve on the spot.

In Alberta, the customer would be encouraged to contact the CFP on the very next business day. Call them today and make sure they have everything they need, otherwise you'll get a letter that will literally ask you to call them.

Transfer wait times in the French forum for QC...wait for it...people are still waiting since January 7th...
I know it doesn't help what I just posted but it was to show that things have slowed down in both ON and QC.

Retail transfers are usually processed more quickly. Call the retailer and tell them to get the transfer approved. You can't call the CFO directly and the CFP can't/won't do anything for you. If you choose not to make the retailer deal with this then I would fax the CFO. I usually send just a cover letter with all my information asking them politely to look at my transfer. Providing a believable excuses might help move things along (because I leave the country next week...). Usually they'll email me everything I need the very same day, once within 45 mins of sending the fax.

I'm not sure if the faxing route works as well lately but it's definitely your best shot.
