on the fence about a Mosin

Its not just the Mosin itself to like, but the bullet. One stack of X54r is good for all 91/30s, SVT40s, and M38 and M44 carbines. I would also add that some rifles shoot very well with 203gr soft points. Deer just fall over dead at the sight of a Mosin.

I'm a little different than most I guess. I was pretty underwhelmed by my first mosin, a 1943 refurb. Certainly worth the price but after shooting Swedish Mauser's and Lee Enfields it just didn't do much for me. I still have three but two are Finn captures that I keep for the history. The other is a Tikka m27 which is another beast altogether.

Hello,

I love the Mosin. It's robust and can be made into a very smooth rifle. I have a Gewehr 88/05 and used it as a guide to polishing my Mosin up, and they are now comparable.

Both are basically modified Mannlicher actions.

Regards,

Josh

For me the joy of the Mosin is all in the cheap ammo.

My Enfield or K31 are both FAR better rifles. But I can go to the range and blast through 100+ rounds of surplus 54R for cheaper than I could even reload for the Enfield or the K31.

I love firing the full powered rifles. It's actually affordable to do it on a regular basis with the Mosin.
