On the hunt for a M14 Redfield AR-Tel scope mount or clone

There was both an older gen 1 Redfield based AR Tel scope/base and case on EE a few months ago, as well as a later production USGI Leatherwood ArtII with base on the EE as well. I haven’t seen a gen 1 mount only yet but good luck with your search.

I think it was in the neighborhood of $3500, including a Vietnam era case and everything. Had the correct M118 elevation cam. I just searched the EE for it and couldn’t find it. I doubt it sold as the market is pretty slim up here for genuine kit like that. The seller was in Ontario with decent post history so perhaps a WTB in the optics section? It looked to be in great shape. Never seen one up here other than that ad.

The big market for sniper scopes is Japan
They can't own the guns, but they can own the scopes and they do collect them

Ref: the Vietnam era XM21 ART 1 Sniper Scope...I sold it at the beginning of the year, and for what I was asking: $3,800.00.

I did have an ART 1 Mount Only some 30 years ago - it's on an early Springfield Armory, Inc., that was actually worked over by USAMTU Armorers in Fort Benning, Georgia...the good old days when it wasn't a big deal to move long guns across the border.

So the mount is still out there, somewhere. I have never seen the rifle here on CGN. Would be easy to recognize by the 1970's period USAMTU camo paint job.

Cheers!

Glad you got what you were asking for that it was a very unique piece of history. Sometimes items like that are slow to move up here, it has to be one of the only ones like it in the country.

I also would try finding the mount in America.
There aren't that many original parts available for these scopes.
The Leatherwood Estate had all the parts etc from making these scopes
Ironsight ended up with almost all of them, the interesting item's were sold directly by the Estates Agent.
