Just finished the hunter safety course at East Elgin Gun Club... Passed with 69/70!

Now the real work begins...

I have been invited In October for a moose hunt in Timmins, but now my work finding local places near Woodstock to hunt begins!

Welcome to the game. It can be hard work to find places to hunt especially in populated areas such as Woodstock. Talk to all the people you know that own rural land. Take a drive out in the country & talk to landowners. Be polite, & be ready for lots of rejections, but it will pay off. Try to join a local hunting/shooting club & get to know people. Hunters are friendly & you will get invited to some great spots.

Congratulations and welcome. Joining your local shooting/ hunt club is a great start. One of the best ways to get your foot in the door is to hook up with guys who hunt coyotes. No other form of game hunting will get you more permission to hunt on private property than coyote hunting. If you are polite, considerate and become effective at harvesting coyotes, it may lead to getting permission to hunt deer, geese, turkey etc.. Maybe some fishing holes too. Getting good at coyote hunting will make you a better hunter. And you can hunt them all year long.
Enjoy!
