Once-fired brass, neck-sized only: OK for another rifle?

As per the thread title.

Factory brass (remington & hornady) is once-fired, has been neck-sized only (not full-sized), C.O.A.L. is as per standard spec, cartridge is 300 Win Mag., load matches factory muzzle fps.

Is it OK to shoot these cartridges in another rifle, first off? It's the neck-size vs. full-size that I am wondering about. Chamber differences being the issue.

Second part will be firing a few and seeing if they group OK in the new rifle...if not will have to pull them all anyway. Have 100 rds and don't want to have to pull them all.

What do you think?
 
It's a crap shoot whether brass from one rifle will chamber in another because of chamber tolerances as you noted. If they fit, once fired from another rifle is fine to use.
 
I have never tried it before so I'm not familiar with the probabilities. Sounds as if it can be as obvious as "not fitting". That makes it easier.

By "not fitting", does that mean the bolt will be hard to close, and/or won't close at all, etc? Will sight in with factory rounds first so will be familiar with "bolt feel" before I try my existing reloads.

If they do fit it appears it will be OK shoot...thanks.
 
I find brass will commonly fit from one rifle to another but not the other way around. I have only found one set of rifles between my friends and I that has the brass fit both ways (a Mosin Nagant).
 
Brass fired from my .25-06 Remington 700V works in my friend's similar rifle.
If any force is required . . . DON'T!
If you do be prepared to dislodge it from the muzzle.
Full length resizing is the only safe method.
With two 6mm Remingtons, Ruger fired brass would not fit in the Remington, and Remington rifle fired brass would not get consistent primer contact in the Ruger.

it worth nothing ;)

there is standards for headspace (chamber lenght)
there is usually .004 to .006 between the minimum and maximum
if your friend's rifle has a headspace .002 longer than yours, the bolt might not close if the are chamberd in your rifle
is you feel a restriction but can close the bolt, ""STOP""" this will slowly wear the bolt lugs and the action
 
Alrighty...

The message is, if I feel ANY restriction, force, etc., then do not proceed. If the cartridges go in smooth as factory rounds, then OK.
 
I have pulled a few bullets before and usually I keep the power and re-use it.

What do you guys think about saving pulled-powder and re-using it?

Of course you got to be sure you've kept everything clean and uncontaminated...the powder receptacle that is.
 
There are two issues. Will it fit? You can test that in your basement.

Will it be safe? A mild load in one rifle can be way over max in another. Seen it happen. If it chambers and fires, look very carefully at the empty case for pressure signs and note any extraction difficulty. If there is any issue, pull and work up a new load.

In my experience neck sized cases almost never interchange unless chambers were cut with same reamer and headspace is the same.

Only if you are absolutely sure what powder you have there.
