I'm looking to trade some (for some) and I think it's once fired. I'm wondering if you can tell once fired from a few fired. It's 338 Lapua and I know how near and dear this stuff is to some of you. So if there was a way to tell I'm sure someone here would know.

I look at the head stamp and the markings are clear, nothing smeared and no shiny spots. The case mouths had some dents, these were easly made more round by just taking a .30 bullet and gently prying the edge back. The only flaw is some cosmetic spots that can't be polished out (in the tumbler).

I received some 300 WM brass in a trade once, it was so hard and dented from too much lube I just tossed them. That experiance has left me very wary of "once fired brass". He didn't call it that but I wouldn't have traded $50 worth of match bullets for them if I knew they were garbadge. I didn't like getting screwed that way and I want to avoid doing it to others.

Is there a way to tell?

I'm less likely to have a problem. I want 7.62X51 Lake City/IVI. All with the same headstamp, with primer and crimp in place.
