This Remington model 12 .22LR pump I have had a bore that looked like a coal shaft when I originally acquired it about 10 years ago. I assumed it was years of corrosive ammo and neglect which created that ugly bore. I'm beginning to rethink it. I've been running Hoppe's 9 and a brush through it and letting it soak for about 8 hours at a time. I've done this for about 4 days now. The patch comes out this beautiful greenish-blue. I've got about 15 of these blue-green patches on the work bench now, with no signs of slowing down. I know Hoppe's says powder solvent but I didn't realize it removed copper as well.

Oh well. Let's see what happens after another 4 days.

Sounds like a candidate for JB bore paste. Hoppes "benchrest" is a copper solvent (not a very good one) but .22 LR doesn't lay down the copper in the barrel like centerfire does. You'll get a thin wash that comes right out with regular solvents.

Thinking the same thing. The blue/green tinge may be from your brush? 22LR leaves lead in the barrel for the most part.
