So after waiting 135 days for a transfer approval, a dealer in BC was ready to ship me a brand new 4.2" 686 - one of the most expensive guns I bought in the panic buying session. Was really looking forward to it.

Shipped, and then never heard back. Weeks went by, CPC doing a trace, etc.

Learned last week - was on a truck that apparently got in some sort of accident in Rogers Pass, trailer caught fire, everything on board was a total loss.

So no new S&W for me... I even bought speed loaders and a holster for it I'll maybe never get to use. (c'mon CPC majority!!)

Now to wait for the police to find the remains (lol - good luck sorting through the remains of a tractor trailer turned to slag...), validate S/N so it can be struck from my account as "destroyed". Super bummed.

Dealer was really good about it, actually. Said it was a first for them in over 40 years.

I did get refunded and told the retailer if it is recovered in salvageable condition, I still want the gun. I'm not hopeful, however.

OP knew driver of said tractor trailer, and it just so happens that he owed him a favour from way back...

Trailer mysteriously catches fire in a secluded location away from prying eyes, all contents are lost...
