One Game One Shotgun

The only hunting I will never give up is upland game bird hunting. I enjoy using a variety of classic sxs's. Though, if I had to pick only one of each, it would be ruffed grouse with my W.W. Greener. Every now and then, I have to take one of my 1897's out, simply because I can't explain my phenomenal success with that model.
 
I would not enjoy being forced to choose a single shotgun and pursuit, the only way I can see it being acceptable to is to first sample all the various great shotgun hunting in all the legendary places across this continent with every shotgun that strikes my fancy.
Waterfowl I'd have a hard time giving up my Browning Auto 5 Mag 12, but I'd have a even harder time accepting I can't use a 20 gauge or double or pump gun when the fancy strikes me. Waterfowl would probably be my pick, locations, foul weather, decoys, variety of tactics and it is just one of my passions. I have a hard time making time to hunt anything else when Autumn arrives.

Upland may take it though, I had a good pointer like a Brittany or Griffon I could happily hunt with a 20 gauge and I would probably reveal my unrefined and heathen nature and pick a 26" barreled 870 Wingmaster with a 3" chamber and choke tubes, since I consider turkey upland game. I know it should be a Ithaca or 16 gauge at the very least, if not a classic double.
 
Prairie Chicken and bush partridge in good old Saskatchewan, with my Dad's old Tobin SxS 12 ga. I would be quite satisfied to hunt my way off into life's sunset with that old gun. :)
 
Too see how you all responded regarding your passion for shotguns is great. My first gun I purchased was a Rem 870, which I still have and use. Nice to see there are people as crazy about shotguns as I am. Someday I hope to be able to find my dream double gun. Thank you all

Be careful what you wish for loogin. I started with a Rem 870. The disease took a while to really get a hold of me but before you know it, you are shopping for the second safe or eyeing how big a construction project it would be to turn your basement into a gun room. And that dream gun.......just as soon as you get near it or learn a little more......it will morph into something else. That happens especially fast if you ever actually buy your dream gun. LOL
 
Well canvasback, too late on the gun room portion of the program. Not as many shotguns as I would like, but probably more ammo than most stores. Hunting clothing and gear ad well. My wife just rolls her eyes when I explain that I'm purchasing another shotgun. Now just have to save up for more. I'm a hooked shotgunner

It came down to a choice.....guns or wife. The guns won! LOL I no longer have to buy jewellery when I buy a gun.
 
What I think is one of you old shotgunners should open up your safe and take inventory on what you aren't using and help out one of your fellow gunners out with a nice affordable SxS for my Grouse hunting. Just sayin
 
I'm keeping my eye on it kamlooky. No rush, hopefully my time will come. Prices for a nice side by side are way outrageous. Baby boomers jacking prices. I understand workmanship, quality, however.
