argh! i voted .308 but didnt think of 12g because it wasnt on the list. i take it back!
if its 'one gun for everything' id be interested in how some people take grouse or rabbit with a .30-06 or .300 mag
Last time I checked, rabbit and grouse weren't Big Game.
338 win mag for one simple reason. A deer hit well with a smaller caliber will be just as dead wehn hit with the 338. The same, however, cannot always be said about elk, and the bigger bears. At 7 yards, a live wounded bear can be much more interesting than a dead wounded bear.
LOL - In all juridictions that would maybe work, however in others it would be a sad way to loose you gun, quad, truck and whatever else you have with you when wildlife officer checks in!

Shoot them in the head the same as one would do if shooting them with a .22 rimfire. How do you shoot bunnies and birds with a rifle??

Think if it was solid copper you could get one in 15gr? Could someone run that through the ballistics chart and see how fast and flat that would go?

I voted for 7mm08.
I know it is not the most powerful of the choices. But isn't that what shot placement is for?
And there is definitely not as many factory loadings available, but I handload...
I have had a 7mm08 for years as well as a couple of .300 magnums various
.257 centerfires and a 30-06.
I gotta say I really like my old 7-08! I guess it is kind of a confidence thing. The bullet just goes where I put the cross hairs when I pull the trigger with that rifle...
