Just to say kudos (if your on this form) to the guy who managed to pickup the: "RIGBY-MAUSER 98 CUSTOM BOLT .275 RIGBY 21 INCH BARREL, BRIGHT BORE, 3 LEAF OPEN SIGHTS, BARREL BAND SWIVELS, OBERDOFR MFG, MARKED "SIGHTED FOR RIGBYS SPECIAL HIGH VELOCITY 275 CARTRIDGE 140GR " from Epps. Needless to say me & I'm sure a few other guys were just behind you trying to weasel in on that rifle! Although I'm pissed at myself for missing out, congrads & happy hunting. I'll just have to head out tomorrow moose hunting with my P.O.S. Rem in 375 H&H with Leica glass & scrap Guide gun in 45-70 as backup:p Hope one of those two manufacturers have built a rifle thats up to the task!;)

Ooooooo, that would be nice! I know a guy in Cowtown who just picked up a similar rifle but longer barrel I think. Had to trade five other NICE rifles to get it IIRC.

A Rigby 275 would be the epitome of all 275's.

Well, if you're getting a Brit bolt gun then it almost should be the 275 Rigby if you're not getting a Holland 375. Speaking of which, I saw a real beauty specimen at the Easter Gunshow in Calgary.

The second Rigby in my lifetime to slip out of my hands & agree a 275 & a 416 runs a close second. Recoil has started to bother me as of late. The 375 in a H&H is the only way to go. Saw one on their website for a mere $18,000 USD.
I'm starting to think like the gentleman above & may start to sell a few of my $1000 to $2000 rifles to afford a higher end rifle. I got a real soft spot for the Dakota Model 76 rifle as well. And their switch barrel set would be an excellent one gun number. Say a 300 dakota & a 404 dakota for the other barrel. Oh well, lots of choices & no cash!

I could sell all my guns and still not have enough for a Rigby, that is a scary thought. I guess I could sell my truck and just hitch hike with class.

Maybe you could get one imported from the olde country.

It would take alot of discipline, disapprovement, disapproval and a lot of other 'dis', but I maybe able to afford one sooner or later. But being married, the cost will be high!

Must be nice to have all that money to blow on guns if you have one that will kill what you are hunting for any way!! I have one cheap semi auto shotgun, one cheap bold action 30-06 with a cheap scope, and am looking to buy one cheap muzzle loader and a cheap crossbow...in case you want to sell one cheap!lol.
My friends with the hype new gear kill less then I do, and are still paying for most of it.

You have to understand the different genres there are to gun owners. Some are happy to use minimalist equipment, some want the newest whiz bang high octane the media is pushing, some have no clue what they want and then some want to get back to the roots of fine firearms where it all started.
Rigby was and arguably still is THE rifle to have if you want the grass roots 275 or 416 Big Game rifle.

As long as you know what you want then you have arrived if maybe for a short time at that plateau before moving to a different style. Many don't and that is cool. The hardest part is understanding eachothers preference and letting them run with it. A guy at work found out I am the "gun guy" of the shop and asked me for help finding a rifle and shotty. Great! Challenge is he likes synthetic and wants that for both. It is really hard for me to recommend firearms like that for him but I am willing to try and learn while spending his money.:D

Cheap guns are okay, as long as they are Classic.;)

I saw it too. I can't believe how low the price was. I was sure it was too good to be true.
