One MOA SKS

Minute of automobile?

There was a guy on here that was making some real headway on it, dont remember the thread or his name though.

Ammunition is probably not the first issue I would tackle if I was trying to get maximum accuracy from and SKS. The short sighting radius and battle sight are the first real obstacle. Shooting 1 MOA with open sights is a challenge that most can't accomplish with the best rifles (me included). You need great eyesight in addition to great shooting skills.
Most scope mounts for SKS are unsuitable because they can't hold zero.
As far as 1 MOA - I doubt it. Firstly you won't see too many (any?) autoloaders that a really capable of 1 MOA; there is a reason why accurate rifles are bolt action.
Proof of 1 MOA is 5 groups of 5 shots each on the same page the average of which is less than 1" diameter. If you look at the precision rifle forum you can see that the " MOAchallenges" aren't all that easy for guns designed for sub MOA.

Techsights 200 is the best bet for a MOA SKS with irons, the sight plane is long and the sight holds zero even when dismounted for cleaning if put on properly. Peep sights are a poor man's scope.

There's a guy on the sksboards that built a really nice one. Custom barrel, adjustable gas system (iirc). Not sure if it meet the op's requirements though.

My first car was a 72 Datsun 510 "coupe".

Have a friend that has a 2dr, it's a monster. Roll cage, crazy massaged motor etc etc. it's basically a street legal race car, it's retarded and worth big money. Not a spec of rust on it, I've been for a rip in it and it was crazy.

Has anyone dumped the money into a custom SKS capable of one MOA with handloads? No, I did not say it would be cheap!

Ok I'm curious.
Functioning semi?

Toss the piston, build di, adjustable gas at the least, barrel, bolt and action work, optics, trigger job, bedding, load...
Can it be done?

Does it still have a bayonet? :)

If the Americans can make all their junk shoot, M1, M14, AR etc then there is no reason an SKS won't shoot. Handloads, new barrel, tune up the gas system, tune up the trigger, bedding. After a week or two of labour it should be good to go. No, I am not doing one for myself!

The 510 was an awesome rally car, a friend of mine started his long career as Canadian champion in one. A friend sold Datsuns back then and they pimped one with green inside, orange outside, mags and every piece of crap from CTC they could find. Put it in the showroom and it sold quite promptly. Not sure if they put the customers picture on the wall or not.
