well, almost:D ....I let him walk because I've got too much meat. This was a big boar though. I watched him for almost 30 mins and simulated many times how I was gonna shoot him if I really wanted to, with my SKS in hand. SKS rocks! :shotgun: :shotgun:

I shot a few gophers with my 7.62x39 bolt gun a few weeks back :D ... Not as spectacular as I'd hoped, the 22-250 produces more carnage. Though I bet the 7.62x39 would be just the ticket for larger rodents. Like beaver, or 'hogs

I missed a lot... do they fight so they can make up?... and who's side should Ibe on? :p

7.62x39 is a good cartridge. For what it was designed to do. killing bears was not the intended purpose. Can it do it? Yes. Can an SKS be a hunting rifle.... yes. but is it so necessary to go with the bare minimum?
What bullets are you using when you decide that you don't let Yoghi walk away?

I let him walk away not because of the cartridge I chambered in my gun, but the situation I was in. I could've taken his life easily.

You side with them, you get 'holy education' but no meat. You side with me, you get meat and 'self-education' which is priceless. :p  And entertainment as well....:D

why don't you use the 7.62x54R that you write about? or get an FR8 that has more jam and is more compact than an SKS?

what is your success rate with that SKS? ie, how many animals have you shot that have not been recovered vs number that are in the freezer?

it seems you keep trying to get a reaction from people around here, you say you have a more suitable rifle (a mosin nagant), you should strongly consider using it.

marginal cartridge in a not very accurate rifle, sounds like a stunt to me, especially when you have better tools at hand.

My M44 hasn't arrived yet. :) But do you really think hunting with sks is more like a stunt than stalking and arrowing a grizz?

no, road hunting with an SKS has nothing in common with stalking and arrowing a griz.....if that is what you do, then you have my respect.

:)My SKS has gone through almost two crates of milsurplus ammo and never jammed once. The bore is still shiny as new (of course I take care of it). For unwanted kitten at close range? :D You can teach him a lesson with an SKS.

 SKS eh?

I would consider using that caliber to put unwanted kittens down, but I'm not sure it'd have enough jam to do the job at close range.

That's what the bayonet is for. Finishing kittens :p
