One more bear downed again by SKS

The difference between you and I, is that I fired the second shot as quickly as I could cycle the action and take aim, while you waited ten minutes listening to the bear suffer.

Really?

You and I have no much difference at all. It's just a matter of time that you will repeat what I did under certain circumstances. But our difference is that I have the courage of telling the true hunting story and you probably wouldn't. Don't tell me all your controversies happened during your childhood.

I know what you're saying, especially about the FMJs. Good FMJs can actually create bigger exit wounds than most hunting ammo. But I can't tell if people out there hunt moose with shotgun chambered with slugs, but I know people who have been hunting deer with 12 ga and slugs out to 100 yards.

Shooting AK under 2MOA (at 100 meters?) is very good indeed, and I think you can challenge any soldiers from any AK countries. As a matter of fact a lot people can only put the firt bullet on the target while doing three shot burst. But why you trust AK more than SKS? As a fact SKS is more accurate than AK. Or you're more used to AK?
FMJs will however be very unpredictable. They seldom exit the body in the same line they got in. I've seen some.... they make horrible exit wounds in both animals and humans. I trust the AK more because we were never trained how to clear a jam. And I've never seen a jam. The only problem was the click and then no boom, at the end of the mag.... no hold-open feature... 2MOA were quite attainable if we used older models (without the pistol grip handguard). The accuracy went out the window after we switched to folding stock :(. Resting the rifle on the mag however (like most do) will result in barely hitting a torso target @100m.
Burst fire was uncontrolable, I always aimed first round about 1m in front of the target to get the other two to tip the plate. Full auto was only good @50yds.

However, like I said before, we had marksmen that were also hunters... they never chose the x39 for hunting...and they were really good. All preferred the x54. When you get your Mosin, try it out...you will not be dissapointed.

Oh yeah, that's what I'm gonna do, x54. Every rifle I hunt with has to taste blood. :D Or I won't trust it.

We are very different in that I have respect for the game that I hunt,so I don't let them suffer for 10 minutes when I could have easily ended their suffering in only seconds.

I have hunted for 34 years and I have never done what you posted.

wounding the enemy is only good in war.
In hunting, we spend a lot of dough to ensure a quick death.....we give the animals the respect they deserve. We respect them before, while and after we hunted them. Much to PETA's dismay, we respect them even if we don't hunt them at all.
If one lets a bear suffer, not taking the time, the risks and the balls to end the hunt in a good way, that guy needs to go to bootcamp and learn that cruelty is just a misplaced sentiment that needs a deep transformation.:slap:

Only in the company of real men one learns that compassion is not for sissyes and that it takes a real man to care and do something about it.

I hope I'll go grizzly hunting in the near future, and I started saving for a 375H&H ;)

I don't know yet, I have no plan, I just feel that it has to be soon ;). Not likely this year though.... :(

Do you know any good places to hunt a bear that hasn't been shot at with an SKS? :D

Sigh. Well this thread went nowhere fast.

Rollingrock - seriously. It's a bit trollish to constantly be going on about what a great hunting gun the sks is. We all know it isn't. It's a marginal cartridge and a marginal gun, more suited to use in hunting by an expert who can really hunt within it's limits well. Quit trying to rile things up - this isn't the "promote the sks" forum.

Glad to hear you walked from the bear tho - it's always good ethics to know when not to pull the trigger. But seriously - no more 'the only reason i posted this was to promote the sks and stir the ####' threads.
