One rifle away from contentment..

More a case of I am cheap and it's easier to buy ammo for one or two guns. You also get quite proficient with the one gun. Archery has taken over my shooting as I can shoot in my backyard. Need to drive 30mins to the rifle range, so not as convenient.
 
I had a herd in excess of 200 at one point... but it was just stressful... they were always in a state of flux, swapping scopes, working up loads, custom tweaks etc... it was time consuming and I was lucky if I even had one that I was certain was ready to take to field... seemed like I always had to get one ready for any given hunt. I finally saw the light and sold off most of it, keeping only those I had an attachment to or fondness of, mostly for their accuracy and functionality. Now, the rule is, if one comes in, one HAS to go out. That keeps things focused and under control... it clarifies the difference between "want" and "must have." I use all of the ones I have now, most are purpose built, with some silliness still at play... cuz guns = fun. Being retired now, I focus alot more on experiences and a lot less on "stuff."

Well that's my problem, I've never sold a firearm, just keep adding more. Currently have 3 gun safes that are overflowing with a gun room under construction to comfortablly contain the rest.

My wife recently got her PAL so she will be adding some new additions this year. Once my kids come of age that will be some more..
 
Hoytz hits on a good point of guns unsure of poi ready.

I'm paddling the same boat.
Fifteen or so will be up for sale in April.
Even dads old Schultz I'm not sure if it is hunt worthy.
Put on a Leupold and not sure if I have sighted it in yet.
Same with my 21H.
Few others that hit the same portfolio.

And our range burnt down back in 2021.
Lots of yap going on about rebuilding it but nothing going on so far.

Just got off the phone with my buddy and a trip to Merritt may happen today and
sign up down there.

Shoot'in off the hood isn't poi neat.
 
I'm at the point where I'm not looking for anything specific but I know that I will bump into rifles/deals that are hard to pass on. In saying that I feel content with what I have.
 
I used to have way more in number than I do now. I used to buy everything I came across that was priced right, but have since sold off many of them. Interests change, some I regret selling but now I look at it more along the lines of quality over quantity, I'd rather have 20 or so good, nice rifles that I actually shoot than 100 cheap ones that never leave the cabinets.
Always on the lookout for the next rifle that I "need" though...
 
I have realized I will never be content. So I set a limit to how many I have. If I want something different one has to go.
Some I own for a couple months. Some I’ve had for over a decade.

If I had endless space and budget to hey would all be on the never sell list.
 
I love too many different types of guns to ever be content.
Sold my very first Remington 870 a couple years ago to a new hunter that was in love with it, since then I've tried 6-8 different shotguns to fill its space, the most recent a beautiful Win 2400 that I was sure would satisfy me, nope, off to the EE she goes and the shopping continues.
Lesson to be learned, if you own the perfect 870 don't ever sell it.

I started 64 yrs. ago. Yesterday I went to gun show in Woodstock with a few $1000. just incase
I saw something I wanted. I did not BUT close !!!!

Now that you mention it, I only have a few rifles that are dialed in. Many scopes shuffled and new loads etc. I have work to do...:)

I'm down to 50 or so, won't be buying any more, but might sell a few more.
 
Hey, women don't even try to hide their addiction. Have you ever heard a woman say "Just one more purse", or "This is the last pair of shoes I'll ever need."?
 
I just purchased one this past Saturday, well what's $2,300, can't cremate it with me when I go, be like buring good money.;)
 
I got rid of over 300 rifles and shotguns in the past year or so , and am down to about 30 now. Including heirlooms and match rifles.
Spending my money on powder and primers these days , but I do have a re- barrel job going on right now.

There is a few in my style right now on the EE… one of them, a Brno 21f in 7x57….. but I can’t !!
