One rifle away from contentment..

Anyone else feel like they're perpetually one rifle away from contentment?
I'm way past that now. I'm downsizing to just a few guns that I actually use. "Want" has nothing to do with it anymore or is buying guns just cuz they are a good deal.

Sold 4 long guns since Christmas, a bunch of dies, brass and primers. Got some scopes to go and maybe a couple or three more guns and any other odds and ends that get in my way.

You raise a good point... if you are struggling to downsize, you MUST sell the brass and dies too... otherwise they will speak to you in the darkness like the One Ring to Gollum; "Myyyyy Precious!"

Do you hear the voices as well? :)

Listed a take-off bbl, some H4831SC and a scope today. I figure I might as well divest a bit whilst I still have breath as my next-of-kin will just give it away.

My son asked me for a list with conservative values... just in case... I completely understand, I have cheated the Reaper many times, figure I am living on borrowed time.

I have a couple grandsons. Will leave a few for them including the 257Roberts and the 275Rigby along with the loading kit to keep them going.

When I see something that I like I get the big urge right away to buy it before someone else does but if I think about it for a while the urge to buy it becomes less.I ve come to realize I just can t buy all the guns I like and try to avoid these impulse buys these days

I'm the same as you, I love rifles, only the ones with wood stocks. I love this gun, then that one, oh, theres another I will purchase............it's a disease! Last Saturday I purchased a Ruger #1 from Prophet River Firearms, I couldn't help myself; I fell off the wagon again! LOL!!!

If they'd just stop designing and producing new ones. I didn't know I needed them, until I see them, and then I need them.

For 1 to come in 2 have to go out. Most of what I do now is what will the kids enjoy.

I still need a Bear Defence Gun and a proper Takedown Travel Gun and a nice 22 WMR and a 222 and probably some other that I am forgetting.

I've bought rifles for purposes, bought them for calibers. Tried rifles, went on to the next shiny toy. Problem is, several times I've down sized. Then I'm motivated by the sense of loss and it starts all over.

Trying to down size again, but also moving rifles out in trades, so at least more safes don't get bought. There is no such thing as just one more, it never ends.

New guns are the easiest to resist. The older ones that are no longer offered are far more interesting.

There was a very cool 722 in 300 Savage sold on the EE this morning. Way more cool than new stuff.

100% agree! The older rifles and cartridges are most interesting, because of their quality and proven themselves worthy!

I can't be certain, but I think I already have all the older ones...

I used to change out several firearms every year, then I sold 35 firearms one year, bought six that I really wanted, and I haven't bought or sold a firearm since. That was about four years ago.
