One rifle, one cartridge, one load for everything

If I had to choose it would be a Sauer 101 with 165 grain Hornady SST in 30 06, accurate and good for anything from a chicken head shot to elk and anything in between.

I've never heard of that one; it looks really interesting, and that's from a guy who doesn't jump on the new-cartridge bandwagon very often at all. The .338Federal almost got me...and this is even more of the same...:)

A few folks I ran into back in the early 70's had rifles chambered up in .375-08 which used the standard length .308 case without trimming. CH made the dies for it. They make the Raptor dies for it now. Either way, the 375 cal on the 308 case makes perfect sense fer me. The major gunmakers missed the mark bigtime on this.

Probably if I could only have one gun it would be my Tikka 257wby pushing a 110 accubond at 3505. After seeing the devastation it causes on whitetail and mule deer I wouldn’t hesitate to use it on a moose or elk.

Is the case shortening necessary in order for the cartridge to fit into a standard short action? I assume a .308 case necked up and loaded with a big long. 375 bullet would require a long action?

I was a .358Win fan for decades. This fat little bugger is looking almost irresistible. :)

I have been day dreaming about a 375 raptor for a while now. If only we could own ar10s.

Would be pretty cool on a model 7 or 84m...

It would be with the long heavy bullets in a standard length 308 case in some rifles, but the Raptor be designed to work through an AR10 length action and magazine setup.

Although I have 40 hunting rifles, I have weeded down my ACTUAL use guns to 2. I use my 375 Ruger Alaskan for 90% of my hunting. My best hunting load is a 250gr GMX over a max charge of Ramshot. I get between 2675 & 2720f/s. I have 4 boxes of Hornady outfitter 250gr GMX factory ammo and it chronographs 2700 f/s, so I am happy to duplicate the factory speed with equal accuracy in the 20" barrel.
And just to keep from getting bored, I occasionally take my Winchester Extreme Weather in .30-06. I use 165gr GMX bullets in that too. But if forced to only have 1 gun/load, it would be the 375 cause you cant overkill an animal, but you sure as hell can underkill. I practice shooting 3x a week at all practical distances and field positions, and shoot the 375 very well. It took a bit of time to master, but its worth it.

243 100gr corelokts
45 years and counting. Dropped every game animal I've hunted. Moose, Elk, Deer, Yotes, Sheep, Goats.
Then I pass it my grandkids and they do it all over again.

If I had only one to use it would be my .375 Ruger African. That rifle is damn accurate, can be loaded from mild to wild and will flatten everything it hits. No wonder it's the King of .375's! :)

What distances do you consider practical with your 375 Ruger?
