Winchester Model 70, 2 stage trigger, laminate thumb-hole stock with a 4-12x40 Leupold. 24 inch featherweight contour barrel, 6.5x55 with 140 SGK's pushed to 2900ish. I am going to build this rifle shortly.
If I left Africa (and Asia, and Austrailia, and South America, and parts of Alaska) out of the equation, then a .300 Win Mag or similar cartridge would be high on the list. Maybe even my STWs. It's just that when looking for a one size fits all answer, it's hard for me to ignore most of the world.
Bear in mind that I have zero interest in being a one gun hunter, so it's largely academic.
You're absolutely right on this, though I think a 30-06 with 180s would do this continent bow to stern. I just keep in mind how few of us actually get into the thick bush.
Preaching to the choir buddy.
