One year ago today (Type 97)

The RCMP and CBSA (and, perhaps, Public Works' Controlled Goods Directorate also) haven't necessarily just been wasting our time and our taxes. They may have been working diligently, tirelessly modifying and replacing, one by one, the Chinese parts of the Type 97 with Japanese parts - including Japanese parts never intended to be attached to a gas operated semi-automatic centrefire rifle - in a calculated conspiracy to make the rifle something that it is not, in a bid to protect the public, naturally.

Here is an artist's depiction of what they might have created; the evolved (now-Japanese) Type 97:

(And requiring CGD registration, no doubt.)
