OneClearVoice!!! *UPDATE*

Aaaand, I responded last night:

Dear Ginette,

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my inquiry.

I can't say that your response helped alleviate any of my concerns regarding bill C-71. You state that this new bill is aimed at curbing an increase in gun violence in Canada, that there was a 23% increase of firearm-related homicides in 2016, and that shootings became the most common method to commit murder. I agree with you that this pattern is worrying. I am not disputing that.

One thing to keep in mind (there are lies, damn lies, and statistics) even the CBC pointed out that the base year of 2013 that the Liberals used to show an increasing trend was bogus. Any self-respecting statistician would require a minimum of 10 years and if you apply that minimum standard the years subsequent to 2013 (or 2012) fall on the trend line. And that trend line is downward.

Great letters by the way.

It's the long weekend and the staffers who manage the inboxes are home. I've changed all the campaign subject lines to help evade filters. Let's hit 'em hard and stuff those inboxes so full come Tuesday morning it will take them hours to sort it out!

Yes, I hear you. I chose to ignore the extremely narrow view of that statistic in the hope that I could further the dialog. I pushed what I felt were the most important points, which were the RCMP reclassification powers and the fact that not one criminal will care about this legislation. If I get another response, then I will debunk a few more and add additional logic to the mix.
