Hi. New to the forum.
I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on distance /online gunsmith schools. I have found a few online, but any experiences or thoughts would be appreciated. My goal is to start my own business in the future.
Thank you

Well kudo's to you. I think it's a tough job to do "online" though, however where there's a will, there's a way. Figure out what you want to work on? and what your comfortable with? so pistols, rifles etc. If your intention is to build complete guns, then some marching skills are necessary to offer a decent product. If that's the case, a community college may be a good start. Good Luck.

It helps if your wife has a good job with benefits and a pension plan. You will also need a good job allowing you to support your gunsmithing. The first 10 to 20 years will be the toughest... it would be a great benefit if you were employed as a machinist.

Becoming a machinist is a good start, depending how far down the rabbit hole of “gunsmith” you plan to go. You’ll want some milling experience, some lathe experience, and some headache/problem solving experience.

Definitely need some machining skills, I’m a Millwright and built a couple of rifle with the help of a machinist in my 20’s. To do good work you need lots of patience.
