online match signup system (dedicated domain now too)

we had a motion passed (if I remember correctly) for BC to do something like this. I think the initial idea was for online fillable PDF forms, but this is even better.

Yeah... The limitation of fillable forms is that it is just a better way of collecting info; it IS a step forward from mailing or emailing info, but it's still a one way thing; any changes or queries still require the interaction of the match org.

Slavex, you're an 'admin' for the test club, feel free to poke around there, there are a couple of hidden matches you can play with (on the config screen), or even the visible one. Feel free to (re)assign people in that test match, it won't affect anything. If you want to create new matches from scratch, any match whose name starts with __test (double underscore then 'test') won't show up on the general signup page, so you can play around with the squad creation/update process without cluttering the main page. Or let me know the name of a BC club, and I'll just set that up for you to whatever you want, in a way of testing/experimenting.

(there are no section/regional limitations in this system any club anywhere in the world can use it; if we get multiple sections joining in, I'll have to add some optional section filter, just to cut down on the amount of data/etc visible on the match list screen, but given how conservative some of the match organizers tend to be, I don't think that will be an issue for the immediate future ;) ) I won't try adding anything now, for earlier mentioned reasons: maintain the stability of the system during its initial test(s) cases. Anyone who wants to give it a try is welcome, just let me know what club(s) you want to be able to 'manage' here, even if it's just for evaluation and feedback purposes.

allow the likes of Windy to register for a match.

Hey... what ? ... Whoooo... ...Waaaaaiiiiit a minute....
Not a bad idea...
Has anyone EVER invited Wendy to the range for a day???

sorry for the highjack, but..... wouldn't that be the ultimate coup.
Wendy shooting production....:)

I removed cookies from the system; they are a great tool, but given the amount of anti-cookie software in use today (from browsers' settings, to personal anti-virus/firewall software silently dropping cookies, to even corporate proxies refusing to pass cookies along) that was creating a lot of problems while not really providing any benefit. So I switched cookies off,and am using another method for tracking the movement across pages... For people who didn't have any problems before, this should be invisible, for those having problems, those issues should be gone now.

Ok, we now have a dedicated domain for this system:

http://www.ipsc-matches.net/

(didn't want .com or .biz, since it's not a business, not .org since I'm not an organization, and not .ca since it might grow in the future, hehe, so .net was perfect).

a) ohhh, my pleasure, I just wrote something which I would want to have available, as a shooter... ;)

b) I was asked not to have the ipsc ont details used/associated with the system; the ipsc canada details are included in the Username/Passwords emails Bud sends out - do you have any of those burried in your inbox? Or you can email him and ask? We're not supposed to post them anywhere.... Thanks!

Ah, ok. I'll have to wait, I guess, since I'm a noob to IPSC, and have never received an email from Bud.

Cheers!
