Happy New Year everyone :runaway: :)

Here is where you can enter your scores from the various matches (for rules on these matches go to the top of the rimfire page to the thread titled "Rules for Matches".).

And just for a bit of "background info": Unlike other postal matches where you have to mail the target to get it scored this is simpily based on the honour system and the shooter scores it. After this you simply post your results in this thread.

To enter this month's scores you need to shoot the target(s) in the month of January

Just a couple of "guidelines" to follow and you should be fine.

Please state the:

Which match you shot
Your score
Your screen name (i.e. cz452shooter)
Gun used
Scope used (or if it was open sights just state open sights)
Ammunition used

Here would be an example:

50 yard unlimited,

231-2x, cz452shooter,
Winchester 52B, Weaver T36
Eley club extra

Thanks Jack :)

Here was a prone score I shot yesterday.

192 - cz452shooter
CIL 190, lapua SC, Anschutz peep sights
10-15kmh winds, about +3C out.
First target wasn't so great - 93 but finished with a 99.

Happy New Year Everyone!

I got out to our indoor range today... Man it was cold in there... -20 outside... and probably -5 inside! What a difference a bulky coat makes in your groups... in any event...

Prone
EBruder, 191
Brno #4, Peep Sights
Lapua Club

3P
EBruder, 278
Brno #4, Peep Sights
Lapua Club

Does anyone know... if you have a big bulky jacket on... do your groups tighten up if you hold it tighter (to compress the fabric between the butt stock and your shoulder)? I am thinking that since the butt doesn't contact my shoulder as well as when I'm wearing a T-shirt.... it doesn't recoil the same... or maybe it slips side to side... I wonder???

Eb - not sure how it would effect the gun shooting with your coat against the gun differently but generally it is better to have a more relaxed and light grip as to not create muscle tension and un-relaxation.

Super scores Matt, especially with the Single six :)

msg.drew; You are "allowed" to shoot any rimfire gun (including pistol or revolver for any of these matches") May be a bit harder to do but if you would like to give it a try as well go right ahead! The match he is shooting is the 3p match but just standing.

20 Yard Prone "My range is 20 Meters"

172 2X
MSG.DREW
Ruger 10/22 Barracuda Blaster
Leupold Rifleman on 4X
Winchester Semi Wadcutter bulk 500 Canadian Tire

BTW: May be wrong but I think the 94/22 is a rifle - not a handgun.

huh ?

My muscles still cant do what I want them to do in prone or kneeling... I guess I am going to have to practice more. When the gun is benched just sitting on a box of bullets at 20 meters I can fire 10 shots under the size of a dime. Off hand I cant even keep them all in the black ring. Makes me unhappy but its my body not the gun letting me down.

Sorry Drew,

Misread your post - thought you were referring to the 94/22 as a handgun, not a rifle (Nice shooting by the way matt and as drew mentioned posted scores like that with open sights is very impressive - heck even posting scores like that with peep sights or a scope would be good :))

As you mentioned shooting off the bench and getting groups the size of a dime is one thing, firing from standing, kneeling or prone and getting groups like that is another story. One important thing I think though to keep in mind is that shooting is 10% physical and 90% mental. You don't neccessarily need to be big and strong, just need to have proper technique, good concentration (which means not concentrating on concentrating, but concentrating on the four main focus's of shooting which are trigger squeeze, sight picture, hold and follow through). Master all of these and you have shooting down pat but thats easier said than done ;). From what I have found there is only one thing that helps you better learn concentration, technique, etc and that is practice. I suppose your goal is to get these different areas into your subconciousnous so that you shooting without really thinking of it at all, but keep concentration with it. Only thing that can help you to do this again is, well, practice :)

A bit ranty but a few things to think about ;)

Its hard to squeeze those rounds off when your scope is doing a figure 8 over the bullseye when I eliminate that movement I can do fine.

I am also trying to cope with a scope thats out of focus because it has no parallax adjustment and its out of focus no matter what I do. I have found a part to fix this but its restricted by the US government

Here is another set of scores... was much warmer today!

I hate when that happens!

Our range rents space to our local police, Brinks, and someone else too... It's happened to me a couple times... I drive all the way to the range... only to find the range booked and occupied....

Tomorrow maybe!
