Hey guys,

This petition was created to show the numbers of hunters and outdoorsmen that support hunting in North America and the world. It was created in response to opposition to the BC grizzly hunt by the anti-hunting movement.

As hunters, our numbers are strong and we need to be ready to use our voice. Please sign this petition in support of both the BC Grizzly bear hunt as well as all hunting as a whole. Pass it on to friends, family, etc who support what we do and get the word out.

The anti-hunting petition has over 17,000 signatures and is gaining media attention. Its important to let our voices be heard as well. Make sure you take the time to sign this and share it with others. Across the country, the continent, and the world.

Thanks!

What is "sport hunting"? I am a hunter, but I only kill what I will eat. I don't hunt to control varmints unless I am prepared to eat them. I don't trophy hunt, unless it is an animal that I or someone in my party with consume. I agree that hunting is part of our Canadian Culture and Heritage, but I wouldn't hunt something just to kill it.

Hunting is a sport. The term 'sport hunting' is meant for just that.

Thats totally fine if you only hunt what you eat. There are several other people that hunt to manage different game and do not eat everything that they hunt.

If you'd like to create a thread to discuss hunting and the types of hunting that people do, its quite easy. Rest assured, however, that anti-hunters could care less WHY you hunt. They will start with grizzly bears and 'easy' animals like this to eliminate and then move towards caribou, sheep, elk, etc, etc... They will not stop this fight and neither should hunters.

Just signed. Only a few dozen have signed. long way to go.

Was just started tonight....these things take time to get steam. I think we'll see the kind of support we have in a week or two and hopefully people keep spreading the word. Everything has to start at the bottom floor so lets hope we can show our voice.

With all do respect, if all hunters thought as you do, there would be very few animals to "consume". Wolves, coyotes, and bears would quickly eat themselves out of house and home in short order leaving the sustenance hunter with slim pickings. Look at what happened with the wolves in Yellowstone.

Hunters are as much conservationists as the conservationists. Ideally harvest numbers are set for sustainability for all species including predators. I understand your position but, as hunters we need to support our brethren in conservation. What is next on the list for the anti's moratorium on hunting? They focus on predator hunting because it is the weakest link in the pro-hunting chain. Food for thought.

And I will get the wife and everyone else I know who is not a tree hugging "Conservationist" to sign it too

I cant stand listening to these uninfomed wankers spouting their lies all over the media... :HR:

And unfortunately there are enough bleeding hearts in this country that saw this and think its sad...

Worst part is; Those same people are the same ones who are on the phone to the CO's when they see a bear anywhere NEAR where they live and want the thing removed. (which in a lot of cases means killed) But they sleep perfectly fine at night after that...

But because us; "Cold hearted Blood thirsty" Hunters kill one "Just for the fun of it" they go off on a tangent...

"WON'T SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK OF THE GRIZZLIES" ovrec

And did you hear Darimont the night before call Grizzly hunters "Small men with big guns" !?!?

These guys need to pull their heads outta the sand. All hunters I know respect the land, and the animals that live there.... A HELL off a lot more than these pencil pushing weinies that are polluting the land with their bloody water bottles and starbucks cups - one of which is usually glued to their hand...

I read a post somewhere and this anti said; killing animals is archaic and there is no need for it... We would all be healthier and live longer if we all became Vegitarians....

BULLS***!!!! If they had half a brain, they would KNOW that if we all became vegitarians we would NOT live longer.... because we would all DIE FROM STARVATION pretty quickly!!!

I gotta stop watching the news or I'm gonna have to buy a new TV when I lose it and throw something at it...

Do these online petitions even do anything? If you want to help join a wildlife federation.

My somewhat of a hippie enviromentalist. Roommate even signed the petition. He belives in hunting and is even going to go do his CORE corse next month

There are a ton of members of wildlife federations who have signed this. In fact, several large groups are getting on board with this petition. This petition is a mere showing of support as there is a large one opposing the hunt. Do they do anything? They show our numbers and at least we arent left playing catch up when the anti's are doing proactive work.

As I said, most are members of groups. Will this petition DO anything....maybe not. Will it raise awareness and get people motivated to do something or see what the wildlife groups are doing? Hopefully.

Does anyone have a link to any studies either for or against the hunt?

I do like to be informed about facts before signing things such as this.

Google is your friend...lots out there other than this...

You want facts?

BC has an estimated population of 15000 grizzly bears.

Less than 400 were killed last year, not all of these were by hunters.

Even the infamous "Suzuki sponsored Report" admits that a mortality of 3-5% of the population is sustainable.

BC takes about 2.5%

Grizzlies are the most micro- managed species in the Province. Even bears killed by a bus are factored into the "mortality equation".

How many more facts do you want?
