OK lets pick one or the other to do this.:mad: I have been watching for the Barrie match this weekend to open. Its listed on the old website for sign up. Now i fine out that the sign up is on the IPSC Ont site and full it would been nice if the person that running the match had taken it off the old website :kickInTheNuts:

if its going to be sign up using the ipsc site then lets remove the old website all together
 
If you would have read the line above where you sign up is the MD put a note there to remind shooters to sign up on the new system... Also if you had read the sign up details on the new system you would have learned the sign up was going to be done there...

Not too sure how much more detail you were looking for.... :)

If you would take down the old website i would not have to read lol lol
 
I suspect that that is Omen being a nice guy, if he just shut down the page with no note he and the BOD of IPSC Ontario would no doubt be inundated with emails much like we were when his site crashed last year.

I'm glad someone else is doing it now, I'm not involved with ipsc anymore, so it felt really weird to be doing it, haha!

I didn't want to shut it down, since I didn't want to let everyone down, but now that there's an alternative, it's time for others to take over...

lol, hard feeling, haha? not at all, glad someone with the time to put into this is taking over :)

like I said, it was time to move on, and the timing is perfect, I never would have abandoned the ipsc community but now that there is a better system to use, awesome!

I did get a moment of being pissed off when someone was annoyed that somehow the site was still up, because he didnt read ANY of the multiple notices and was using the wrong site for a match, but then it just made me laugh...
So to protect people like that from themselves I took it off line all together...

Looks like IPSC Ont finally got its wish :)
To those of you who might not know the background from several years ago, when I was going to put together the original system, I approached Ipsc Ont, and offered to do it for them. I got no interest, so I wrote it myself.
As soon as MDs started to use it, IPSC ont can running to me, explaining how THEY need to be in charge and manage the project and the operations. At that point I was doing fine by myself, so now I ignored them.. :)

I know that the freedom I gave the MDs to cteate, open, etc matches as they saw fit was a problem for ipsc, they wanted to control that...

Well, now they can :)

You offered...you wrote it...ESSA offered to use it for the trial run...I inquired about how it had been tested (oh the horror)

IPSC Ontario had always been clear that it was not their IP...

If you're going to make #### up...at least make it interesting

There is no control, by the way. The MDs actually got more freedom. They can post events to the calendar, manage matches, export them into winmss and then upload results all themselves. I alway wanted it all to be in one system, so after omen declined my offer to work on it togeter (don't really care why and I came after all the drama), I wrote one myself. Now I seem to gotten myself into the burden of supporting it. :)

I can't speak to what happened in the beginning with this program but I know since I have been on the board we have had the shooters and MD's coming to us asking for changes to the Online signup and our answer has always been that it was not our website, we do not control the content and if the users wanted changes that they were best served by contacting Omen directly. We have not, at any point that I have been on the board, sought to control that site.
 
yes, we do remember it differently, Craig. just because you don't remember coming to me and telling me how you needed to project manage the effort doesn't mean it didn't happen. Just because you don't remember telling me how, based on your experience in IT project management you predicted my attempts, without your control/input, would crash & burn, doesnt mean it didn't happen ... all this happened while you were the pres of IPSC ont. I might stil have the emails, but I've changed accounts since then so I don't know for sure.

Of everyone involved in IPSC, I think I'm one of the people who made #### up (interesting or not) the least. But I have been on the receiving end of old boards making random #### up. I just call it how *I* remember it, without insulting those who remember things differently.
I'm sick of this tendency of some within IPSC to resort to ridicule and/or insult when faced with a position they disagree with. I've never done that, and never will. I am not interested in us going back to arguing in public, cuz you know what? I just don't give a #### anymore. Actually, you know what ? I apologize! You are right, I am wrong. IPSC Ont has aways been extremely supportive of me and my efforts, be it in competition or the signup, any and all problems were always my fault, you and/or every other board member past, present, and future were completely innocent of anything, I take full responsibility for everything.



There: nothing to argue and trade insults about anymore!

I'm very happy that someone else now gets to run it, support it, and maintain it. I had no time to put into it anymore, so it's all working out for the best.
It's not like I made any money on it :)
