i was on leverarms site and they put out a notice that they have only a few norinco sks ($149) left.

so if you want one for xmas, you better go and get one or you will have to order it from marstar or SIR.

i also noticed they are completely sold out of the czech ammo(7.62x39), both the case and the 300 pack.

Personally , I'll hold on the rifle . Got one already .
But I do find it concerning that the surplus ammo is drying up .
Canada Ammo is dry , Lever is dry . Still some supliers out there with a bunch but for me the validity of this rifle is lots of cheap available ammo .
I'd hate to see the day when we are forced to buy comercial ammo for these things .

use commercial ammo like amercian eagle at $12 per pack of 20, i will go broke, haha.

i still have some cheap czech ammo left i bot 4 months ago, i paid $159 for a case of 1120 but i read in the ammo forum that a member paid $200 this month.

From what I heard, its Canada Ammo who supplies many of these other guys. When I called them, they said they were not getting any more til next year.

when next year? (early or late) and at what price?

My contacts tell me that some dealers have known about this upcoming shortage for well over a year now.

Gee some of our ammo dealers are supposed to be experts in importing.
Also why they advertise for something they no longer have for months is beyond me.

As I said last summer...Time to start reloading 7.62x39.
BTW I'd use the tougher #34 primers from CCI.
(thanx Poutfoo for noticing it is the #34, and not the #41 primers)

For hunting, some local guys are pulling the czech bullets, re-seating a modern commercial 123 grain .311 soft point points, and putting the FMJ bullets aside for later use. I haven't tried this yet myself, but I'm going to use mine as Enfield plinker loads. :D

As far as I know Yes, but they are less sensitive.

is there any 7.62x39 brass that uses small rifle (and not large rifle) primers?

the steel cased milsurp stuff I have seems to use large-primers ;)

what about real reloadable brass? What size primers?
