Obrez in itself means hack job or saw off. So even originals are all bubba jobs, doesn't matter if its done in 1917 or 2015 they are all bubba.

What about those SMLEs that were converted to shoot .45ACP from short barrels? In my opinion that's a very Canadian homegrown obrez

those 45acp were put together with new barrels manufactured at the short lengths to exceed 26" OAL ,not sawed off ,similar to the mares leg idea .
