Just curious .Does anyone else also own and shoot just military rifles.Other then .22 rifles and shotguns like myself
I'm getting into the milsurps a lot more, mainly because the ammo is priced a lot better. Going to the range and blasting off a $150.00 of ammo in a day in my other rifles gets expensive real quick for me.
Anything designed for Russian guns is cheap that's for sure. But remember, surplus ammo WILL run out as anyone who used to shoot cheap .303 surplus will tell you. Reloading is the way to go as then everything becomes cheap/reasonable to shoot.
I try that on the wife too,she just gives me theMy safe's are full of just about everything, but in the last 12 months I have been adding alot of milsurps to the gun collection! Damn things are not only addicting, but like I tell my wife, it's an investment.
yep i shoot cast reloads mainly and save my milsurp ammo for later
Type 99 Arisaka, would love to have one of those.as for milsurp sights and old eyes I found a cheap pair of drugstore reading glasses helps me draw a bead with my old battle rifles.About 75% of my collection is milsurp. More than 90% of my shooting is with milsurps. I do enjoy a round or 2 of skeet every week in the summer. I shoot cast bullets from all my military rifles except a Garand and M14. I like reloading most for the less than common calibers. Current project is a Type 99 Arisaka using cast bullets and 30-06 and 8 mm cases. If I want to get serious about groups or attend one of the informal milsurp matches like Blast Off I'll fall back on my 03A3 Springfield which I was lucky enough to have rebarreled with a brand new Remington 1943 2 groove tube a couple years ago. Probably my most accurate milsurp and certainly excellant sites for 65 year old eyes.
ive got milsurps, will shoot them as soon as it warms up, waiting on tinman here so we can get together and shoot my ross![]()
Can go wrong with the Swede mausers"Old Outlaw" those rifles were built to last and accurate too.Only thing I really shoot any longer is a few different types of SKS. Mostly my Yugo M59. But, 95% of my shooting is with Swedish Mausers now.
Sold My Russian SKS's as the prices down here in the States are to high for one not to. Just buying more Swedes though.
