I have a K31 which throws flyers , then shoots really well after 10-15 rounds down the tube. Not a hot barrel issue as I can set the rifle aside for 1/2 hour then first shot is a flyer, then settles down. Clean rifle and it's 10 shots or so before it settles down??? Any rationale reason for this? I have another, much more worn K31, shoots nice groups from the gitgo, so I don't think it's me.

My understanding is most barrels shoot better after a few fouling rounds are fired.

Why I have no clue, maybe something to do with the slight imperfections being filled in making a more even consistent surface perhaps? or maybe its magic who knows. I believe most precision shooters will only clean their barrels when they see a drop in accuracy, which can be hundreds of rounds part.

^^^Many snipers won't go into the field with a clean bore for just that reason. Not sure why a slightly fouled bore seems to shoot better than a just-cleaned one, unless it has something to do with warming the barrel slightly and depositing small amounts of fouling in the machining marks to smooth out the bore.

A warm barrel is tighter than a cold one. You never mentioned what ammo you were using.

Does your cleaner remove copper? Some copper fouling can be beneficial for accuracy as it fills in imperfections in the bore, strip the copper out and these imperfections are exposed, reducing accuracy.
