hi all,

So here's a question for you all: a GTA/Ontario gun owner (PAL, pistol, but no club ATT yet) is moving to Gatineau, QC. What's the best way to proceed, re paperwork, etc... I have no idea what the details of the regulations are in Quebec (beyond that SQ is silly and a pain in the butt)... Is it the same as in Ontario, you need to join a club and then wait months for them to get you an ATT? Any club recommendations in that area? There's the RA Centre, of course, BUT it's in Ontario - can you get an ATT living in Quebec based on a membership in an Ontario club?

Any comments/help would be appreciated... I DO realize this is borderline general question, but it's really focused on the ipsc aspect of stuff, that's why I'm asking here - I figure this is the best place to find people who might have dealt with a similar situation themselves, with all the cross-border IPSC travel in that area...

Thanks!

My understanding is that they would need an ATT for every visit to Ontario.

I'll check with George T (he just moved back to Ontario) and get aditional details

Cheers

I guess the question then becomes what's the best club in/near Gatineau to join to get an ATT... ?

So the RA recently had the interesting situation where the Qubec Police issued a ATT to someone based on their membership of the RA club. They has not checked that membership status and the RA had not done any paperwork in support of the application.

I suspect that Quigley checking with GT will give us the right answer.

living in Gatineau, QC

Hi,
I'm living in Hull, so I have to be IPSC Quebec member and I have my 1 year available ATT from Surete du Quebec, Montreal, based on my E.O.H.C. membership. That means that I can go anytime there to practice target shooting. But everytime I go to the RA Centre matches in Ottawa for example, I have to apply for a one time ATT. I always send it by fax and it takes 5 days to get it by mail or the next day by fax. This Saturday we ( "the Ottawa team" ) is going to shot at CTM in Montreal and I had to ask for a ATT as well ( even if it's inside the province of Quebec ). But the people at the Centre d'Armes a Feux are very nice, friendly and prompt.
If you'll need more info I'd be happy to share with you.
Best regards,
Robert
