Hey guys.
I recently got my license (finally) and visited a gun shop. I was wondering if you need to be a member of a club to get an ATT to transport a restricted firearm home or do you not?

Right now I'm still not sure which club I'd like to join but I want to buy a gun I found for a good deal.

Thanks everyone!

You need an att to take it home. The gun shop looks after that. You will then receive a phone call from rcmp informing you that they will not approve any more restricteds until you have joined a club...not sure that they can actually do that but they will anyways...

Sorry the wording of the question was off, I know I need an ATT but do I need to be a member of a club in order to get that ATT ?

I'm probably joining target sports in a few weeks, but I assume the att will be processed before that.

In that case no you don't need to be a member for your first restricted. But as an fyi once you join a club you have to take yet another safety course and then wait about four weeks for your long term att so its better for you to join a club asap... but as far as buying your first restricted you're good to go.

Thanks. In that case I might get a non restricted to shoot at a range while the LTATT is being processed and all, but the ruger 10/22s are going like crazy.

Thanks again guys.

lol thats exactly what I'm doing now...I have an old cooey 600 to plink with, while two handguns are sitting at home being very expensive paper weights...oh well, only a few more weeks waiting for the ltatt
