Hi all,
So I'm wanting to take the Black Badge course, but the IPSC Ontario website isn't all that helpful when it comes to finding a course near me, and I tried emailing them at the provided address weeks ago and haven't heard a thing back from them.
Is there some other website or person I can contact in regards to finding a course in the West GTA area?

Thanks

This Saturday there is one in Hamilton at the Wentworth club. I'll PM you the email of the organizer. These courses are of course listed on the IPSC calendar, but you have to be a member to see them...

It's true that the IPSC calendar only opens to members.

Thanks, I did some more research and this kind of stuff looks like a lot of fun. I do agree with the OP though, that their websites are horrible. It's 2019 and the sites look like they were made in the late 80's to early 90's. It's no wonder shooting sports have a hard time with traction or even people considering them sports with websites that look like something out of a windows 2000 pc.

Better let euxx know your concerns.

Well no real way of changing things, without joining them and working from the inside. Telling people their sites suck rarely lead to change, even if they do suck. I'll have to give this stuff a try once I'm finally accepted into my local range, looks like a lot of fun.

Canada site has info it need to have or at least most of it. Including links to the section web sites which are the orgs running BB courses.

I'm not a web designer, but Canada Regional Director had hired someone to do a regional site redesign.

Though in my pas experience, redesign done by an outsider usually makes site less helpful. An IPSC Ontario one is a good example of that and I have nothing to do with it.

Ya for volunteer organizations it's hard to get things like that right. Hell even small business that sell guns that I know of in my area have subpar websites, though I think we can blame a large chunk of those on things like shopify and others not allowing companies to use their platforms because they sell guns. Odd that they are allowed to discriminate based on the items they sell but this is Canada, where not much makes sense to begin with. The ####tiest part of the modern age is the need for a quality online presence. Without it it's a slow to fast decline with others picking up that slack as they invest into their online presence and pull the people in. I would argue part of the reason Canadian firearms owners have a hard time with traction in the public eye is by large, a part the lack of a quality online presence. I do realize it's a sport that has mostly older generations within it, and less tech savy people but in the end not having good websites will lead to the disappearance of shooting sports or small gun stores etc... But don't take my criticisms as a rejection, this stuff looks super fun and I do plan on trying to do a black badge course and trying this stuff out. Got a 9mm carbine on the way and looking into good pistols either going to get a Ruger or a Glock not sure which one yet.

Well, the IPSC Canada Regional Director is reading this, so you can help him by outlining what would be considered a quality online presence and a good web site.

To me web sites are more about content. People come for that and not for the fancy pictures. Fancy pictures are only there to make the first impression for people who never seen them before. Once that is over - fancy pictures and stuff should not get on of the way of important things.

What kind of fancy pictures are we talking about?

If IPSC Canada had a swimsuit calendar featuring a different section coordinator each month, and a centerfold of the RD, would that attract more visitors to the site or less?
