Ontario Blaze Orange Question Pt2

Unfortunately, just because someone's actions may interfere with a hunt does not mean they can be charged with "interfering with a legal hunt"... It has to be proven that their actions were done for the sole purpose of disrupting the hunt... It's crown land and they have as much right to be there as you do... Do I wish people woulkd respect the hunt and do as little as possible to disrupt it... Yes... Can you be charged for blasting an air horn so you don't get shot on crown land?... No...

Walking around blowing an air horn for the specific purpose to scare the animals away is definitely chargeable.

If an idiot went blowing an air horn in some of the hunting areas around here, fish cops would be the least of his worries.

I don't see what the fuss is all about. Had a group of Anti's blasting horns, ringing bells, whistle blowers etc. At lunch I went out to the road to have a chat with them. Thanked them profusely for helping drive the deer right to me and my group. Explained how this has made the best morning of hunting ever... The five of them in the car gave be the most dreadful scowl, spun the tire and took off like a bat out of hell never to be seen again.

Kinda miss those good ole boys helping out.

Because of the requirement to wear blaze orange or whatever colour in Saskatchewan during big game rifle seasons, no whitetail deer have been taken since 1934. :p

I even wear blaze orange underwear, just to be sure. I actually found a $15 blaze orange backpack in Wobble Mart or Canada Tire. It works great for taking extras along - like lunch, ammo, toilet paper, etc. I can hang it in a tree and actually find it when I get hungry or....

I had a nice doe and her fawn walk past me while I was blazing orange. They were no more than 15 feet away. Poppa came out a minute or two later and jumped right into the freezer. :)

Deer and moose could care less if you're wearing the best $1000 camo suit out there or a full blaze orange suit. They do not see orange like us and it has ZERO effect on the hunt.

Movement and scent on the other hand...

I read an article a few years ago that stated that while deer cant see orange the same way we do, it still does stand out more noticeably to them, same thing for blue jeans. The article said that one colour they could not 'see' very well was bright pink....

Yet thousands and thousands of big game animals were shot from close range before camo companies used their marketing skills to make hunters believe they need the latest and greatest camo to get within range of a deer. Oddly enough, I have yet to see a single deer react to my bright orange hat and vest during the shotgun hunt when they had a clear view of me. If orange spooks a deer, how is it that people who literally wear orange from head to toe still have deer come within bow range (during controlled gun hunts) every season? Movement and scent will spook them first.

Camo is just like fishing lures...it's all about attracting the hunter/fisherman and their money.
