Talking with the CFC clerk today we discussed the turnaround time in various provinces. He said I should be glad I didn't live in Ontario as their turnaround time for restricteds was 4 WEEKS!

Can anyone substantiate that?

yeah my restricted transfer took a few days past 5 weeks in Ontario. SHould get it monday.

I'd be happy if it was only four weeks. Yep, it's horrible. On my last transfer in, I sent a letter to Monte Kwinter, the Soliciter General. I got a polite #### off and die letter in response from the CFO.

Bought an Inglis from a friend of mine here in Terrace. He phoned, he spoke, I spoke transfer completed. With wait times took about 30 minutes. ATT was faxed to my office.

If I were living in Ontario I would all over my MP and Stockwell Day's office. This is worse than work to rule.

Take Care

Bob

Maybe we should write the Ontario CFO and ask him to explain why it takes him 20 days longer than other CFO's to approve a simple transfer? Maybe he will cough up a quote like "The provincial government (McGuinty) mandated that I delay transfers for a minimum of 15 days" or "I wait for an RCMP background check because I don't trust the licensing system".

Try getting a prohib transfer to a restricted, 6 months and counting on this one since the paper work went in. Its been a lot longer on some other one`s Ive had done!

Call and ask why its taking so long ...and they dont seem to think its taking long at all, cuz thats just the way it is !

GGGRRRRRRRRRR

My last transfer took about 20 days, that was this summer. I got another one under way a week ago and the lady said they're backed up and will probably take up to 5 weeks.

Considering its been 2 months and counting for a membership to a range, Im not really losing out on any shooting time. All in all this whole gun thing is a tedious and slow process, in every aspect. Quite frustrating!

The deal is there are only a couple of people who actually handle the restricted transfers in Ontario.
My sources indicate that the expected rate of doing transfers is on the order of
20 or so PER DAY! THAT's IT!
The transfers are probably accumulating at the rate of 20 PER HOUR!
Currently, I have FIVE transfers pending...the last one took just over four weeks. Apparently, NOTHING will be done, even if the time required grows to INFINITY!
You are dealing with a government bureacracy that is freewheeling as there will never be any pressure from Queen's Park to speed up the transfer of
'nasty, evil, death dealing implements of the Devil'...
If the same s**t was going down in completing driver's licencses, the public would have stormed the building by now, burned it to the ground and the
'perps' would have been awarded 'Knights of the Realm' by every newspaper in town.
Buckle up boys...it's going to be a bumpy ride!

I gotta ask..if you already own restricted...wtf is there to even look at or check when they process it?

BINGO!
Unofficialy, the people working at the CFO acknowledge that the whole
'restricted vs non-restricted' system is nothing but a political scam.
I can walk in and buy a 100 (non-restricted) rifles and a transport truck full of ammo on the spot, but they have to make it appear as if there is a great deal more care and checking on the part of the government when it comes to the
restricted deal.
They agree that once you've done the licence thing...background checks, etc,
and have already have done a couple of transfers, it make no sense at all to require the enforced delays that we're currently seeing.
It's not going to change, as there is no pressure from the public to streamline the process....
Why would you think that expressing your concerns to a provincial government that is on the record for banning handguns would create any positive response?
