Ontario CFO wait times.

Nov 3 - in-store purchase at a GTA dealer
Nov 21 - Ontario CFO granted her/his approval (as per TN)
Nov 22 - the dealer called to come in and pick-up

This time didn't bother the CFO at all
 
You would think that if you have purchased a restricted before, it would be quicker. If all of your info stays the same, then there should no problem with a transfer. They should be able to red flag you if there are any changes, and can look more in depth of the situation.

Even if you've never purchased. You have an RPAL, the background checks should be done? To me a transfer should have nothing to do with more checks. Just registering that you have purchased whatever restricted firearm you are wanting to pick up.

When someone gets in trouble PAL or RPAL quite often the police show up to remove firearms, so unless there is a complaint about the person why are they doing this?

In all honesty it takes less than 10 minutes to process and approve the transfer. The problem is volume and understaffing. It just takes them 3-4 weeks to clear the pile of transfers before they get to yours.

Back in the spring time the CSAAA managed to shame the CFO into putting more resources to process transfers , and the CFO announced that they were having a day a week where the whole office was committed to transfers. Wait times came right down with some people report being approved in under a week.

Appears that was short lived

you're right …

When calling to inquire about the status, it was always either
1) we are processing transfers from n days ago and please call in m days
or
2) I am going to approve it now and TN pdf arrives by e-mail in 10 minutes
 
I called in this morning about a lower transfer that started a month ago. The nice lady on the other end approved it within 30secs and I had an email confirmation within 10mins.
 
I submitted the transfer request Nov 6 and was told 5 to 10 business days. Called RCMP on Dec 2 (18 business days) and they transferred me to CFO. The very pleasant lady at CFO processed the transfer and sent email while I was on the phone with her.

Squeaky wheel gets the grease. They must know that the guys who are inclined to call, are just going to keep calling until its approved. Might as well do yourself a favour and get them out of your hair.

Nope. One just approved, just over a month; still waiting on another, also over a month. Have bought and sold a few every year.

I had one back then in one day.
 
33 days and still waiting; called to follow up yesterday, very cold, non conciliatory response.

I would like to shoot it before Bill takes it away from me. FFS.
 
I just got off the phone with the CFO, and they told me it was a 4 week wait time (guessing for Ontario). I told them that my purchase was on Nov 5th and that it has been 4 weeks!!! They told me to contact them next week if I don't get the transfer

I am a patient guy, except with government red tape:(
