Ontario CFO...Welcomed experience

Glad you had a positive experience... but I fail to see how this fit in the 'article' section of CGN... ;)

:D
There was a political purge at CFO-Ontario 3 or 4 years back & the management was replaced by McGuinty anointed anti-gun zealots who before the ink was dry on their letters of appointment declared war on the Ontario recreational firearms community & shooting clubs.

Even big, well resourced shooting clubs like Galt are being "red tapped" to death and a few smaller Ontario clubs have bit the bullet & ceased operation.

All the while armed-to-the-teeth GTA drug dealers & criminal bike gangs are being totally ignored & are laughing up their sleeves while senior citizens who have owned guns safely for decades get rousted in their homes for trigger locks.

Three appropriately descriptive adjectives immediately come to mind..........shameful........disgusting......and repugnant.

One mitigating factor is that the clerks at CFO-Ontario are fantastic (Kerrie C. & her colleagues) and if it wasn't for their proficiency things would be even grimmer for Ontario shooters.

So LTATT's in Ontario don't include border crossings and Gunsmiths?

As I understand, LT ATTs are only issued for gun clubs (approved ranges in Ontario)

I should probably mention, my restricted transfers weren't way out there in terms of delay, I would say they both took around 1.5 weeks, not quite as bad as Quebec, but pretty ridiculous considering provincial CFO offices shouldn't even exist.

Quite honestly, if I ever sold a restricted again and it was someone from ONT or QUE, I may pass on their offers.

The time it took to clear was insane.

:D
It is the buyer's CFO that approves the transfer...........not the seller's CFO.

If I buy a gun from somebody in BC it is CFO-Ontario that approves the transfer since I am from Ontario.......not the BC CFO.

I believe he's saying that he won't get involved in a transfer from or too ontario because of the rediculous delays. Unfortunatly for those of us in Ontario this will just make us sad and the CFO happy because they'll have less guns coming into the province.

Ya really eh, don't stop selling to us just cuz our retarded government takes to long. The only people who win then is the government, that is exactly what they want. We cannot let them break us down with their bullish until we just give up on gun ownership.

x2 really nothing to add except I'm more than a bit insulted. I'll tell ya, we're our own worst enemies sometimes.

Mine covers any range in BC, Alta, Sask, Man, the Yukon, any gunsmith and any border crossing provided I have ATF paperwork for the border. The only question I have is exactly why I need a redundant piece of paper, if they don't think I should be transporting firearms, why should I HAVE firearms.

Right you are, I guess the border ATT would qualify as a LT ATT
