Anyone get notification yet for On. controlled deer hunt draw? I know Oct 10 is notification date but occasionally they mail out some results early.

I look forward to the results but the hunt is far from controlled any longer and land owners are getting pissed. To many hunter and trespassers is what they are saying.

Looked at the numbers when applying for tags this year and a lot of things now make sense. Wynne and her ilk simply raise tag numbers when the limit is reached to get more licence money. 92C had less than 700tags for all three hunts now almost 1000, 92B around 1000 now over 2200 tags. No wonder every where you go you find someone. Found no less than 3 warm tim hortons coffees in the bush last year where I have exclusive permission.

Many will say oh more deer now. Yes but those deer do not live in magic cover, much of which is being bought up and posted. This has gone from an enjoyable week where you might see another person or two throughout the week, to a week of running people out of where they have no business being and explaining to landowners it was not you that ran a wounded buck across their lawn at breakfast and why the government has changed things recently to allow this.

Another example of Toronto, and a biologist in Peterborough that doesn't own a pair of boots, THINKS they know best and the more $50 licences they sell the deer population is better for it.

Thankfully I'm in as a landowner, but about half our group are in the draw, We keep our group small. Usually under 10 total.

I don't think we can ever do seriously bad damage to the deer herd in southern Ontario .Thy are so many deer living in city limits and on private land that there will always be seed

I believe they control the number of hunters so that they don't end up with a "shooting gallery" in more populated/developed area's of the province and has little to do with the actual deer numbers.

As of 8am this morning, no draw results have been posted...

Edited to add: As of 9am online draw results are up and I got my tag!

My point exactly, Wynne is more concerned about getting her share of a licence than safety!! Typical just typical!!

When the Controlled deer hunt started in 1979 , I started with it in Halton Region. The "Controlled" part
always meant controlling the max. # of hunters , not deer. Plus , what has already been said ,,,, " There is
so much private land posted & other land not open to hunting , that the deer herds can always thrive there."

I see no other hunters on my hunting land , in Halton . ,,,,,,,,,,, Frank
