I just recieved in the mail a validation tag for the Contolled Deer Hunt from Nov.29 to Dec. 05.

It says it is for antlered or antlerless and valid for the only zone I hunt in.

I have an Anlered tag now as I have already been hunting, but if I fill it before the controlled hunt starts (Nov.29), do I have to buy another one, or is this validation tag that I just recieved it?

The reason I ask is that it is not a sticker type tag like I am used to seeing. It is simply a card which says "carry with you while hunting"

I have never applied for a controlled hunt, I only know what I have read. The way it reads to me is that your controlled hunt tag is not a game seal...you still need your deer seal.

As I said, that is the way I read it....but if you want confirmation, call the MNR

if you shoot a deer before the controlled hunt begins you will need to buy an additional tag to shoot another deer. you need 1 tag per deer and the controlled hunt slip they send you is not a tag.

what they mail you for the controlled hunt is basically a 1 week license to use a firearm for deer.

Mvarley is correct, the validation tag you received is for authorization to hunt in the controlled hunt only. You must also possess a valid game seal or party hunt with someone who does to be able to hunt. If you use your tag before the controlled hunt you may be able to purchase an additional game seal for your area but watch out because the additional seals are usually only valid for an antlerless deer. Make sure the additional seal is good for the controlled hunt, some are valid only for archery. Good luck with the hunt.
