Ontario Cougar Footage

At least 30 years ago, a friend saw one while riding horseback north of Sudbury at a stable/dude ranch. Clear visual recognition, and horse went nutty. If you see one, shoot it, as they not in MNR Regs. That will end the debate, not that I keen to kill big cats. Now, if I see a Unicorn, I'd marry her!
 
One was caught a couple weeks ago on my buddies property which is about 1 1/2 hrs east of Toronto.He lives in Grafton.Mnr caught it and it's now in the Peterborough zoo and they named him Charlie.News said he's a picky eater and doesn't like horse meat !
 
They're listed as endangered in Ontario and thus protected. Shooting one in a non-life threatening event would get you in big trouble.

They have been on the Wye Marsh property just outside of Midland Ontario for years. We had confirmed sightings on several occasions in the winter when our maintenance staff were grooming the cross country ski trails as the cats would be using the ski trails. And no they were not Lynx.
 
I have land an hour east of ottawa and mallorytown and there are cougars or at least one, tracked it myself for 3.5 hours just this last november. Been out everytime since to try and get pics. Never without my camera after that sighting.
 
On the far left, 'bout mid screen there is a dark spot.
Right at the beginning of the video the cougar's tail is visible.
Just stare at it and wartch fer movement.
It's there.
 
Ok, my trail camera managed to get an image of the Ontario Cougar. You can just make it out in the river. I think that we can safely say that it does in fact exist......

Tried to watch the video, got three car commercials in a row, stopped play. Screw that station. Anyway, following the news over the years reveals that a lot if not all of the cougars that get spotted in the east are released 'pets' because DNA tests have shown they come from out west, and I mean the far west.. One time a couple years ago I was staying overnight in Ottawa and there was a nostalgia story about a vacuum cleaner repair shop that kept an adult cougar in the back with the spare parts, the outcome of which was that they drove it 'up north' and released it. The gratitude of the people of the area in question, having a human-habituated large predator released among them, could not be overestimated had they only known.
 
...you're ALL wrong...in order for it to be a verified sighting a NEWS REPORTER has to see it...sheesh...CO's even gave way saying that the animal was only CONSISTENT with it being a cougar...otherwise...well...normal folk who live daily in the bush could be making ANYTHING up!!! :HR:
