Ontario Hunters read this Urgent...

Call in for your moose and deer tags you get the same msg. Its not just the turkey #

Ill buy my tags in person in cash and I guess I won't shoot a turkey or bear or wolf this year

if you don't want this company to have your info, you will have to give up hunting. they already have your outdoors card info.

The whys and wherefores of this are found at the link below. Basically the free trade act has been used by companies in the US and by federal and provincial departments to allow this and our weak privacy act can't stop it.

The US Patriot Act trumps any contract terms that try to protect the data, so the statements about contracts providing protection are complete BS. They willfully ignore the reality of US legislation.

In this case, your consent is being forced since you can't comply with regulations unless you submit your personal data so you might have grounds for a complaint. Consent has to be voluntary. Here is the info on how to proceed if you are interested.

Having a third party store credit card and personal information is objectionable.

What security standards were specified by the MNR?

Let's not forget that corporate databases have been hacked - like the big "Winners" scandal a few years back.

I don't trust the government here to do a better job, but at least they had a known track record, and were accountable under Canadian law.

I understand that quite a few retailers were denied the ability to sell licenses, and I no longer know where to physically buy a licence locally.

Freaking ridiculous.......My bet is that turkeys harvested in Tennessee are not reported to anyone.

Call placed to haliburton kawartha lakes brock MPP Laurie Scotts office where I clearly stated my refusal to submit my personal information to a company outside of Canada. They're gonna call me back.... ;)

We are consistently reminded that hunters are NOT reporting their harvest and there is low compliance of Mandatory Reporting.

Now that Ontarions personal info is kept, stored and subject to the laws of a foreign land; what will that do to Mandatory Reporting Compliance? Expect to see a nose dive on harvest info and reporting.

This is beyond ridiculous...
Even if they force the US headquartered company to store all the data in a Canadian data center, all the data is still subject to the Patriot Act!
Look @this article where the biggest software company Microsoft admits that the cloud data stored in European Union is still a subject to the Patriot Act since Microsoft is an US company...
