Back to claybuster, I don't know whether dope would be harvested yet (How do YOU know about that, senior???) but the house sits on a small lot and the likelihood of a dope plantation in that area is pretty remote, based on land ownership and activity. (I know the area very well indeed)

Even if the dopes harvested as you discovered there are usually signs that an area was used for growing purposes.
