ONTARIO IPSC Ranges and Google's Earth ***UPDATED***

I've been inputing Ranges into Planet earth(can be used for Tom Tom and other GPS programs as well). I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in the file after it's completed.... It's pretty cool... as soon as you start up Earth it'll show you all the Ontario Ranges... this will give you directions from your location to the range range to range etc.... I'm about half done ....

If any club rep's have the GPS coordinates or actual Street address please pm me that way it can be more accurate... it's hard to zoom into an area and try to find range...

I hope to have all of Canada done soon as well. I encourage other club rep's in all sections of Canada to PM me as well and I will gladly make file available when it's done...

There is already a thread about this on IPSC Village.......

Mind you EESA was the first Canadian one entered.

There is also a CGN thread that includes ALL gun clubs in Canada.

Just went to global village and you're still the only club there.... (Canada) Glad to see there has already been an effort to make this available.... although I may not be first but Ontario's will be done soon.

I started a project like this for Ontario clubs last year.. got about 3/4 of the way through them.. I have a web based App for storing the LAT/LON, and exporting to csv/garmin formats.. also had the redlight cameras, and speed traps.. has a link to generate the google maps.

Cornwall, Haliburton, Islington Sportsman's Club, GPS for Oxford & Silverdale (if someone has it) and ThunderBay.

Other than that they are all inputed and works good.... as soon as it's completed I'll put up a link for the file.

thanks man that's pretty much same idea... any and all ifo you have please forward to me...

With all the mobile GPS units out there & once we gather all the locations and store them in a meaningful manner those who have such units will never get lost on the way to a match again.... and clubs can use it as an interactive tool. Earth will give you directions from where u are to where you want to go.... I use a simple gps progy on my Telus/nextel phone that will use this info and tell me where I am through google maps all for free.... so even though most of us do't have GPS units in our cars... most of us do have GPS enabled phones and can use this info with the free software out there

anyone who has Google Earth, knows how to open a .kml file and would like to test this file out and comment on please PM me your e-mail and I'll send it to you... it's not fully complete but I'd like to know it'll work on other systems as it does on mine...
 
here's the file.... I think all The Ontario IPSC Clubs are there...... some club's info is still incomplete... I'll update it later today or tomorrow... I hope it helps ... I'll be putting it into other formats as soon as this is done.... let me know if there is anything I need to change..... check back for finished file....feel free to share and post it on your site... again hope this helps...

oh yeah.... To use... install google's Earth.... once you start earth and it's loaded... go to file... select open... find the file you just saved to your Hard drive... select open.... it'll all pop up .... you will see list on left side in the "Places" heading.... double click o it it will Fly you to the location....

some clubs are located in blurry low res areas... there is nothing wrong with your eyes... it only happens to about 5 clubs but f the GPS location is correct it'll get you to where you want to go...

Let me know ... good bad or otherwise....

now updated with contact info for all Ontario IPSC Clubs and some U.S. clubs in Michigan
